Last week, Professor Kris Miler and I had the privilege of interviewing @RepStenyHoyer at @UofMaryland as he reflected on the Help America Vote Act and its legacy of bipartisanship and stakeholder engagement: https://t.co/iWEpAhPes4
Voters tend to live in neighborhoods that are disproportionately one party. If you are part of the minority party in your area, you’re especially needed to be part of the process and ensure the integrity of our elections. Sign up to serve as a pollworker!
🚨 ATTENTION MONTGOMERY!
🗣 The presence of election workers representing both parties helps maintain safe, secure, accessible, and transparent elections.
I am increasingly struck by what I’m calling the “workforceification” of pollworkers. As the voting season lengthens, fewer are working for just one day and getting paid with a stipend, like jury duty. More are being hired as temporary employees.
Launched a substack today. First post talks about how we think about workforce resilience, broadening our lens from how individuals adapt to institutional factors such as staffing, management practices, processes and infrastructure.

MD Task Force 1 (MD-TF1) deployed 3 team members to Texas in support of ongoing operations. Earlier in week, two (2) members (Communication Specialist & Division/Group Supervisor) were deployed as part of Incident Support Team (IST). On 7/11 MD-TF1 deployed one K9 search team.
@cstewartiii Hmm. Perhaps instead of necessarily dumbing it down, we should consider a stats explainer session at conferences like ESRA to help nontechnical audience members learn.
Because sometimes you need to shake the dust out of unused parts of your brain and do something completely different.

In elections, you get the rare privilege of working with the best in public service, distinguished citizens who dedicate their time to serve at the polls. I’m grateful to have worked with Larry and could not be more pleased that he’s stepping into service on the MoCo Board! 🗳️
🚨 ATTENTION MONTGOMERY!

On the occasion of the PA House being ready to approve a new voter ID law, here's a time series of D & R support for requiring photo ID to vote among PA respondents to the SPAE. The D growth in support mirrors national trends.
I’ll miss his wry chuckle. I’ll miss his righteous indignation. I’ll miss his words of encouragement. Most of all, I’ll miss his friendship. And the voters of the city of Baltimore will miss his advocacy. Godspeed, Armstead, and thank you for your service. 4/4
Armstead was a hell of a fighter. He cared deeply, about elections and the people who administer them. If anything, he seemed to relish being a lightning rod for criticism, especially when he felt it gave him an opportunity to advocate for the staff who make democracy happen. 3/4
