We have been so well served by Sen. Smith. She is such a competent, diligent, and consistent progressive leader. I hope our next Sen. has similar skills & aptitude, but she’s leaving very big shoes to fill. Wishing her a heartfelt thank you for all she’s done for abortion access.
We’d say in the “biz”, Kari did public service for the right reasons. She could not be out-worked & was always prepared. She was genuinely kind. She cared about doing the work right, so problems actually got fixed. She had a great sense of humor. Rest easy, Kari. #mnleg
Sen. Kari Dziedzic, DFL-Minneapolis, has died from the cancer that caused her to step down as Senate Majority Leader in February. She was 62. She died at home on Friday. Story to come.
MN Gov. Tim Walz just said on “60 Minutes” the state’s new paid family and medical leave program was “promoted by the business community.” This went unchallenged. It’s also untrue. The state’s two most influential business organizations opposed it as it passed in 2023 and now.
@davpeterson84 @rochelleolson She accepts the results of the election. Being unhappy with an outcome is not the same as lying flat out about the outcome or attempting a coup.
Their conversion therapy manifesto is available on Amazon, he was on their podcast, and he did a lot of trips and promo for this hateful group.
When asked: “…the Bible makes it "pretty clear" that same-sex attraction is a "sexual sin."”
But he says he won’t vote anti-LGBT.
Republican extremist & Trump donor uses tax code to scam $6,500+ for herself, thanks to her 2nd or possibly 3rd home.
Imagine having a nearly $5 million home, loaning your campaign more than $500,000, and being like “I deserve this $6,500 too!” #mnleg
Kathleen Fowke, the GOP candidate running in the November special election for Senate District 45, last year received a homestead property tax break for a property she doesn’t live in and outside the district she hopes to represent. https://t.co/cdpQDYGJOM
When I worked with @KariDziedzic she was encouraging, straightforward, strategic, inclusive & had a deep well of knowledge of…everything. She did the work & took time on the nuance. It’s a huge loss to have her out of the top job. I am still in awe of her work ethic. TY Kari 💙
I’m sad Justice Chutich is departing. She was so generous with her time and deeply thoughtful. I think often and fondly of a few long and ranging conversations we had, where she was so open and engaging. A real gem of a person, a trailblazer and a loss for the court.
Another Minnesota Supreme Court retirement (second in two weeks).
Justice Margaret Chutich, appointed to that court in 2016 by Gov. Mark Dayton, says she'll leave at the end of July. She was due to be on the November ballot.
Justice G. Barry Anderson leaving in May.
He’s one of the best elected people I’ve worked with. A heckuva hard worker, a joyful leader, and genuinely kind person—big loss for the court, but a well-earned retirement. Wishing @JusticeAnderson all the best.
Court spokeswoman confirms Justice G. Barry Anderson, the last Republican appointee on the Minnesota Supreme Court, will retire effective May 10.
