Congratulations to the delegation of #Togo 🇹🇬 and the Africa Group on the adoption this morning by the #UNGA of resolution A/80/L.104, “Correct the Map.”

First endorsed by the African Union Assembly in February and officially passed at the United Nations today, this @_AfricanUnion initiative marks a historic step toward accurate and equitable global cartographic representation.

For centuries, the Mercator projection distorted global geography, shrinking Africa to the size of Greenland when our continent is actually 14 times larger. Today’s resolution promotes equal-area maps like Equal Earth across classrooms, media, and international institutions ensuring the world map finally reflects Africa’s true scale, weight, and place in the world.

À Birao, 597 Casques bleus du contingent zambien de la #MINUSCA ont reçu la médaille des Nations Unies pour leur contribution à la paix, à la protection des civils et à la stabilité dans la Vakaga. Leur engagement au service des populations a été salué par les autorités locales.

40 bénéficiaires du Programme CVR, dont 23 #femmes de Kafao, ont renforcé leurs capacités sur la rentabilité et la pérennisation des activités génératrices de revenus lors d’un atelier organisé par la #MINUSCA le 14/08, pour l’autonomie économique et la résilience communautaire.
