Honoured to speak at the EU Food Justice Forum (Brussels, 9 June). A key chance to spotlight Welthungerhilfe’s work in CAR and share field realities on the right to food, food systems and resilience—while learning from EU, CSOs and farmers’ orgs. #EUFoodJusticeForum@OCHA_CAR@UE_Centrafrique@GermanyinCMR@BahaiBIC_Europe
Next week, we will be joining civil society partners, EU institutions, farmers' organisations, international voices, and others, at the EU Food Justice Forum in Brussels, 9 June, an inaugural one-day high-level forum examining how EU policies shape the realisation of the right to food within the EU and beyond its borders, and the responsibilities they create across global food systems.
BIC Brussels has supported the organisation of the Plenary Session titled ‘International Cooperation for Global Food Systems Transformation’ which will convene Ms. Cristina Guarda - Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Adriana Herrera Moreno, Secretary of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), Morgan Ody - Vegetable Producer and General Coordinator at La Via Campesina, Jameson Gadzirai, Country Director for the Central African Republic - Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and ROPPA info.
At a time of deepening and interconnected global crises, international cooperation can play a decisive role in driving the transformation of food systems worldwide. This session will make the case for placing food security, nutrition and sustainable food systems at the heart of EU external action, examining how stronger coherence across development, trade, climate and agricultural policies can support smallholder livelihoods and reinforce local food systems across regions.
Central to this session, and to the space, is the conviction that transforming food systems demands a fundamental shift in how decisions are made, where decision-making is guided by an awareness of global interdependencies and the meaningful participation of those most affected.
We look forward to the conversation and invite you to register below!🪴

This #WorldFoodSafetyDay, let’s act to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks and build safer, healthier and more resilient food systems that advance sustainable development for all.
During the rainy season, it can take up to three months for a truck to reach Zémio from Bangui, the capital, despite the town being 1,000 km away. With @WFP_UNHAS flights, humanitarian actors get there on time to save lives #InvestInHumanity
