For me, there was never a GOAT debate.

It was never this player versus that player.
It was never about stats, trophies, or comparisons.

It was love at first sight.

From the moment Sir Alex Ferguson spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo (before the transfer from Lisbon), I was captivated. I have never really had eyes for anyone else since.

And over the years, he justified that admiration with performances that were nothing short of extraordinary.

Maybe I stayed because a part of me saw myself in him. The relentless work ethic. The obsession with becoming better than yesterday. The refusal to settle. The determination to outclass everyone, especially yourself.

This World Cup feels different.

Maybe that’s why I have refused to say anything about it publicly.

(Also, no one important has publicly said “CR7 is cursed”. Then, I’d have to get involved. But for now, I’m watching every Portugal match with tears in my eyes)

It is emotional because in all likelihood, this will be Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup.
And maybe his final footballing expedition.

All I will have left, are reels and highlights.

I don’t know man…

I know I’ll fall in love with another footballer.
