This reminds me of the Chinese ‘cultural revolution’ . Totalitarian systems and Cults encourage people to publicly criticise/denounce their parents, family members and friends. Loyalty to the ‘cult’ or ‘ideology’ always comes before loyalty to family & friends. It’s awful.
