Austrian soldiers actively participate in UN-peace-keeping missions such as @UNIFIL_ in southern Lebanon.Their efforts are essential for international stability, in crisis hotspots.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms today’s very serious incident, presumably caused by Hizbollah or affiliated groups and we demand a swift clarification of the circumstances that lead to it.
Our thoughts are with our injured soldiers and we wish all of them a speedy recovery. The safety of blue-helmet soldiers must be ensured, at all times.

At the @UN Security Council briefing on Thursday on the situation in the Middle East, all 5 permanent members expressed support for @UNIFIL_ and concern for the safety & security of peacekeepers in south Lebanon as they face unpredictable risks while implementing their mandate.

@a_schallenberg Day 7 of the UN Highlevel Week 2024: it’s relatively quiet at the #UN, some bilateral meetings and side events are still taking place but the main action is the General Debate continuing in the GA Hall.
And even here, the audience has thinned out … it’s been a long week

Day 5 of UN Highlevel Week is the biggest day for us at the Austrian Mission @AustriaUN .
We start early with meetings of Austria FM @a_schallenberg with Kenya FM Musalia Mudavadi and Uzbek FM Bakhtiyor Saidov. At both occasions bilateral consular agreements were signed.

After a whirlwind visit he flew home - not even 48h in NY. With elections on Sunday, he made a point to show Austria‘s support for the UN. #UNGA79
