Try Amadea!
We are the ONLY app that gives you real-time feedback on intonation over the course of a conversation. Learn how to speak by talking to an AI VTuber. Japanese and Chinese available now, more to come soon.
The UI should look a lot cleaner and more polished now too.
As always, more suggestions and feedback from our users are always welcome!
(Yes I'm using this as an excuse to flex my first perfect score ☺️)
We tweaked Nene's personality update and improved our backend to make her an even smoother conversationalist.
Test it out for yourself now on Amadea dot app!
Here's why Nene is an especially great teacher: We score your pitch contour (f0) against native reference audio in real time.
So, beyond saying the correct word, you have to say it the right way as well, as a fluent speaker would.
You can even replay the reference audio!

AI tutors usually feel soulless and bland.
We at Amadea spent a lot of time giving Nene actual personality, quirks and reactions, so you want to keep talking to her. In fact, we've even seen users stay in a single session for more than an hour straight!
QoL update: we added a toggle so you can turn off Nene repeating her lines in lesson mode when retrying 👇
You can also just click on the textbox to skip her line manually, just like in a visual novel.
genuinely impressive that you're learning japanese 24/7 to the point where 600 hours is normal use!
for power users such as yourself, we recommend directly moving to japan.
@KyouKunDesuwa Best part, their plans are as you expect, free users cant do shit, you have to pay $10 minimum, $300 a month to get any "normal" use you could get free with duolingo (if you needed to use something.)
Our pitch comparison is actually quite hallucination resistant! We generate the teacher audio which we compare your pitch against, but the pitch comparison itself is done using classic phonetics research algorithms.

Every language-learning app tests whether you said the right word. None of them tests whether you said it the right way.
