A member of the United States Congress says he is “absolutely filled with hate for mainstream Muslims” & that they are “trying to destroy America.”
Only one of his colleagues has the courage to object.
This is not our finest hour.
@Markhor_101 Mental illness is a generous excuse and speculation. What we know for sure is that Asim Munir is an egomaniac who may prove the worst army leader in history — he destroyed the entire constitution to benefit himself.
Bismillah. I have never met Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib. I have never spoken to Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib. But as a Black man and a civil rights attorney, I can easily recognize Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib.
You see, every community struggling to overcome oppression has their own version of Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib. Indians under British control had many of them. So did Black South Africans during apartheid. Black Americans under slavery and then Jim Crow had them. Native Americans facing ethnic cleaning and genocide probably did, too.
And yes, Palestinians have their very own Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib.
You see, @afalkhatib is a "good Palestinian" whose sudden pseudo-prominence in the west comes not from within the Palestinian community, where he has little support and even less influence, but from the enemies of the Palestinian community who praise him and platform him because he validates their warped worldview.
"Even Ahmed the Palestinian agrees! The problem isn't just the occupation. It's those stubborn, overly religious Palestinians and their ignorant supporters who refuse to secularize the Palestinian cause, stop protesting, turn the other cheek, support the Abraham Accords, and wait for the Israeli government to grow a conscience."
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib is not only a tool for those who seek to validate the most dishonest, damaging narratives about the Palestinian people and their American supporters. He is also the human incarnation of the proverbial snowflake.
He slipped into an apparent depression after watching an innocuous video of Linda Sarsour 1) praising the everyday people of Gaza for maintaining their steadfast belief in God amid a genocide and 2) calling on American Muslims to act on their own belief in God by doing more to stop the genocide).
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib's response? To 1) mourn the fact that so many Muslim and Arab American voters have dared to prioritize ending a genocide funded by their taxpayer dollars and 2) go on a rant about both "Islamism" (whatever that inane word means) and Hamas (which was not even implicitly mentioned, much less embraced).
The good news is this: just as other communities facing oppression had their own version of an Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib undermining their struggle for freedom, each one usually meets the same fate. He eventually ends up on the sidelines, watching his people celebrating as they unexpectedly go free. He is alone, abandoned by the bad actors who once platformed him but now have no use for him, and unable to join his people because he consistently undermined them.
At the risk of further triggering Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, I close with a prayer to Allah: may Ahmed return to his people before that day of isolation comes.
As a 30+ years customer, disappointed with @AmericanExpress@AskAmex on handling dispute for a poor Airbnb experience. Customer service and even supervisors are now based in India and don’t fully appreciate how things work in USA.
1/⚠️ Don’t waste the Day of Arafah! It’s tomorrow! Thursday
This is not a day for chores, shopping, or resting.
It’s a sacred day, honored by Allah — a day of forgiveness, freedom from Hell, and du’a.
Let’s make every moment count. 🧵
"You don't ask the perpetrator of genocide."
In a searing interview with the BBC, paediatrician Dr Tanya Haj Hassan condemned the broadcaster for echoing Israeli government talking points as she recounted her harrowing experiences in Gaza.
Dr Haj Hassan, who recently returned from volunteering with Medical Aid for Palestinians, shared the devastating story of her colleague, Dr Alaa, a paediatric emergency doctor at Nasser Hospital.
While Dr Alaa was on call at the hospital, her home was bombed and nine of her children were killed, their bodies charred and dismembered beyond recognition. Her husband remains in critical condition.
Dr Haj Hassan described a healthcare system in collapse: intensive care units overflowing with maimed, orphaned children – many the sole survivors of their families.
She also questioned why the BBC has delayed the release of 'Medics Under Fire', a documentary it commissioned about systematic attacks on Gaza’s healthcare workers, calling for its immediate release.
Modi is the twin devil of Netanyahu.
India under a fascist regime clearly wants to take advantage of a world that can’t stop even the most obvious genocide ever.
May Allah protect Pakistan, and the innocent people of the world at the mercy of small tyrants with big weapons.
Three reasons to dump Tesla shares and to #boycottTesla:
1- BAD OWNER: run by a megalomaniac racist Elon Musk who routinely peddles hate speech on X, while cheering suppression of free speech against Israel’s genocide.
2- BAD INVESTMENT: stock severely overpriced & trades at nearly 90x what it expects to earn in the next year!!! No other mature enterprise trades close to such a ridiculous valuation. Not explained by growth story: sales are slowing globally, and Tesla being killed by Chinese EVs where tariffs aren’t protecting it.
3- BAD PRODUCT: Tesla cars may have good tech, but they are built poorly. Many better EV options out there!
Agha Khan: Is it me or something about the heads of a 15 million sect living the unscholarly lives of Western playboys, horse collectors, & hanging around European royalty while taxing their poor followers in Central/South Asia?
Not a word on that grift in the press.
@SanaSaeed Doesn’t make any sense. USA has nothing to gain from a genocide of Palestinians. Strategically it’s wrong in every way.
The Israel lobby demonstrably controls American politics. It’s only because you have Trump & some in his team who are a bit more immune to Lobby control.
Notice how logos recently all look the same?
Not because it makes them look better...
But because of THIS psychological trick that manipulates your brain.
That's why Google, Microsoft, and Airbnb are all doing it.
Here's the full explanation:🧵
Never seen such massive restrictions on internet in Pakistan, when I was in Lahore for a few days. No voice memos downloading, no twitter, no VOIP, no nothing. The military dictatorship and its political puppets are destroying Pakistan and the international community is silent.
@AirbnbHelp@bchesky@bchesky how do I send you an email showing how customer service is failing us with canned responses and a lack of understanding of what is at stake?
The indifference that @Airbnb shows to its hosts is incredible. Even if you are a superhost, Airbnb hardly bats an eye. Guests are given a free hand to write trashy, even slanderous reviews but Airbnb support will just provide canned responses to defend not removing. @AirbnbHelp
