I just searched 300 South 6th St for ballot drop off, and Google Maps directed to this location in Seward vs the actual downtown Hennepin County Gov Center (2.3 mi away) @HC_Elections#mnvotes
My hair caught on fire when I heard folks say "just breastfeed" because "it's free" in response to the formula shortage. If you had that response--or wondered why "just breastfeed" isn't the solution, this 🧵(and unpaywalled project) is for you: https://t.co/GBkqz5fXuG
Something I can't get over: The Minneapolis Police Department (mayor and chief) let the NY Times do a ride along with its police officers for a George Floyd murder anniversary story about how the mayor has tried to overhaul the department (he hasn't).
As part of @npamn’s Histories and Cultures of Transnational Adoption class, I was introduced to @sidebysideproj, adapted into a stunning 16-min NYT Op-Doc. Sometime this #AAPIHeritageMonth, give it a watch for me, your fave Asian American adoptee. 🫰

Earlier this week I and my colleagues were emailed a bomb threat with clear anti-Black Lives Matter rhetoric, and specifically naming our addresses. Even though it was upsetting, it is not surprising. 🧵
MPD continues to abuse their power while Mayor Frey refuses to use any of his.
As Rod Adams said, “It's time for Mayor to be held accountable to the people instead of those who wear Blue."
Over 1,200 complaints in 48 hours.

In the Vogue piece, @MayorFrey is literally quoted saying “That ain’t how it works here…you can’t hide as mayor.”
Four days later he’s slinking off stage at a press conference about transparency because the questions got too tough…
The key thing to understand about the killing of Amir Locke is that the MPD officers who executed the no-knock warrant followed the Frey/Arradondo policy perfectly.
I wrote about this policy last year, in some detail.

Our @maxnesterak asks why Amir was referred to as a "suspect" in the MPD press release. @MayorFrey says "I don't know" repeatedly and defers to Huffman, who says they didn't know as much yesterday as they do today, are still assessing the St. Paul investigation.
NEW: A man named by the cmty as Amir Locke was killed by MPD serving a warrant on Feb 2. Police say they killed him b/c he was armed. His family says he wasn't named on warrant, that he had a permit to carry & was startled by the pre-dawn police intrusion.
