The Minister of ICT @CHRISBARYOMUNS1 today launched a telecom site in Lapono sub-county, Agago district. The site is part of the UCC/UCUSAF Access Infrastructure Program under which Gov't subsidises coverage in areas that are not commercially viable for operators.

I am honored to have @MoICT_Ug 's @CHRISBARYOMUNS1 in Lapono, Agago district joining us today to launch a new telecom site under the UCC's UCUSAF Access Infrastructure program.

The @GovUganda is committed to extending telecommunication services to all its citizens, regardless of their physical location, economic status, & physical abilities.

However, our licensed providers naturally tend to prioritize economically viable areas, which leaves many rural & hard-to-reach areas unserved.

That's where @UCC_Official 's UCUSAF Access Infrustructure Program comes in - it extends access infrastructure to unserved areas, including those with low population density.

While this program has already rolled out 2G sites and upgraded 2G to 3G sites in the past, this launch raises awareness of a new batch of 63 sites being rolled out by Towerco Of Africa.
