I am no longer afraid of things falling apart. I have seen what happens after the worst of it. The sun still rises, people still laugh, new things still begin, and one day, you find yourself happy about something you once thought you would never recover from.
PhD Advising vs Vibe Coding #1:
One of the key skills a PhD advisor learns is context switching. Students come into your office every 30-60 minutes and you need to remember their project, where you left off, and what they were supposed to do next. It's a learned skill and exactly what you need to manage AI agents.
your biggest competitor isn't someone who's smarter than you. it's the person who does the same sh!t again and again and again. even when it gets boring. because repetition does something to your mind that's hard to explain. the first time, you might fail. by the tenth time, you start learning. by the hundredth time, it starts becoming instinct. and while you keep searching for something new, something interesting, someone else is quietly repeating the same boring process until they become dangerously good at it. that's the compound effect of skill. after hundreds or thousands of repetitions, you build a gap that becomes incredibly difficult to close. you don't need to be the most talented person in the room. you just need enough repetitions under your belt. because people don't always lose to someone better. they lose to someone who simply refuses to stop.
the whole cheat code to life is taking messy action. that’s it. no neuroplasticity, no delusion, nothing else. i’m talking about the most raw action, where you literally don’t even think about it. you just move. you just put one foot in front of the other every single day. and if you adopt this mindset and just move, what you’re going to realize is that action never leads to losses. action only leads to lessons. and if you’re the type of person who accepts this and just moves and acts, all you’re going to do is learn. your actions are going to teach you the lessons you need to take the right actions next time. and then, when you take the correct actions next time, you’re literally going to get closer to everything you want in life. so now that you know this, all you need to do is act. take messy action. you’re never going to feel ready. you’re never going to feel confident. it’s never going to be the perfect time. you just have to move.
bigger idiots than you have done it. seriously. a lot of the things you think require extraordinary talent, intelligence or perfect timing were done by people who were just stubborn enough to keep going when it would’ve been easier to quit. you don’t need to be the smartest person in the room. you don’t need to know exactly what you’re doing. you don’t even need to feel confident. sometimes you just need to be too stupid to give up. keep learning. keep failing. keep adjusting. keep showing up. because the person who refuses to quit eventually becomes the person who looks like they always knew what they were doing. sometimes being too stupid to quit is all it takes.
I believe pressure is a privilege. Nobody talks about how you outperform yourself just by living on the edge. Pressure is definitely not the problem, BUT not being able to slow down for big, important decisions will drive you crazy in the long run. Strategically, you need to learn when to slow down and when to go full speed at 110%. Master that duality and you will thrive in this life.
You've got to do what you've got to do in order to do what u want to do! It’s a Sacrifice. You're not supposed to like & enjoy the sacrifices but it's for reason. There will be a day u look back & understand why u had to go thru what u went thru to get to the prize. #COACHPRIME
Kobe Bryant woke up at 4AM for 20 years. Not because he loved mornings but because he loved winning more than he loved sleep. Dear Brother, Discipline is choosing what you want most over what you want now.
crazy thing is, once you have up to $2–10 million, you can enjoy life almost as much as these people.
at that point, everything else is pretty much just numbers.
