Ruto just spent 40 minutes trying to create a false equivalence between our national values set out in the constitution and his so called “development”. Kenyans, please trust me when i tell you there is a reason the Preamble comes before Article 43. You don’t get to the “development “ clauses until and unless you have taken into account the reasons we passed this constitution in the first place. Democracy, Human Rights, Freedom, Equality, Rule of Law and Social Justice.
Ruto can read all the reports, charts and manufactured data he wants, but the real economy is on the ground, where businesses are closing, taxes are choking traders and families are struggling to survive.
His investor-confidence jaba cannot rhyme with empty shops, collapsing businesses, job losses and Kenyans whose incomes disappear before meeting basic needs.
You cannot govern through PowerPoint presentations when the country outside State House is suffocating.
I drive Uber on the night shift. You meet all kinds. Drunks, lovers, tired nurses. At 2 AM, I picked up a guy from a hospital. He got in the back, looking shell-shocked. Didn't say a word. We drove in silence for ten minutes. Then I heard a sniffle. I glanced in the rearview. He was staring out the window, tears streaming down his face. "Rough night?" I asked quietly. "My wife," he choked out. "She just... the cancer. She's gone." My heart stopped. I turned off the meter. "I'm not taking you home yet," I said. He looked up, confused. "What?" "You can't go to an empty house right now. Not yet." I pulled into an all-night diner. "Come on. Coffee and pie. On me." He hesitated, then nodded. We sat in that booth for three hours. He told me about her laugh. How they met. How she hated peas. I just listened. When I finally dropped him off at 6 AM, the sun was coming up. He shook my hand. "Thank you," he said. "For not making me be alone in the dark." I didn't make a dime that night. But it was the most important drive of my life.

Most Kenyans don’t understand the Public Health Act, PWD act or even how SHA works. It is our job as “intellectuals” to ensure we bridge the gap. Politics is emotive and if you immerse yourself into wantam and tutam, you miss out on understanding policies that affect your day to day life.

Spicy Grilled Peri Peri Chicken, Chinsaga & Ugali with @dkmaraga a man who stands for something foreign to most leaders. INTEGRITY & FIDELITY TO THE CONSTITUTION.
Boni Khalwale: William Ruto called and warned me for opposing his rogue government and its punitive policies. I told him off. I will not be intimidated. Western Ni Wantam!
Even if Morara Kebaso becomes president today. I cannot help you if you are still tribal. For example, i would have to solve the 12 trillion debt crisis which is consuming 70% of our revenue. I have only two options. To recover it from those who stole the money or to tax you more to pay it. If i go for Uhuru or Gachagua there will be a war in mount Kenya. If i go for Ruto there will be a war in Rift Valley. Wachana na mtoto wetu. A president’s first responsibility is to ensure peace and security. Therefore i will avoid the war of arresting your tribal kingpins and tax you to pay the debt. You will start street demonstrations due to increased taxes. Morara Must Go. Activists will make money from donors and goons will make money from politicians.
The long term plan would be to increase revenue by spurring economic growth and reduce wastage. But by the time i achieve that my 5 years is over and the elections are here.
Some of you have said that we should default on odious debt. This debt is only odious to us. Those who lent the money to us knew that they are dealing with government officials of a sovereign country who have constitutional and legal power to bind the state in a contract. The money belongs to countries with military power. Even the worldbank has investors in the form of countries with military power. We cannot provoke them to war. We must pay their momey and recover it from our people who stole it. But how do we recover it if ukabila is a shield of protection.
The fact that Kibaki struggled to be reelected in 2007 still puzzles me. Presidency is so brutal, you may be a good leader but a poor politician. The technique is to balance between politics and leadership. You ignore one and it’s over for you.
News reaching my desk confirms there are wrangles in Gachagua camp.
Matiangi is facing hardships in the camp. Hapewi that leadership position.
A win for Maraga's team.
