@WotKloud@football360au@RobbieSlater17 If expanding into the pacific can grow the game here by bringing in more investment then shouldn’t that be explored?
@football360au@RobbieSlater17 Reddit thread I read ages ago that I thought at the time had a lot of merit, however was dismissed. Basically says that through government funding we should be looking at expanding out football into the pacific
@YoungHeartHM The one time Hekari did well in an intercontinental tournament/competition they recruited well from other Pacific Islands - Top players from Fiji and SI, linked well with the PNG boys
@YoungHeartHM Poor recruitment, centered on the Brazilian import players which aren’t any better than other Pacific Players. Questions to be asked why someone like Diho is playing for Vanuatu United as opposed to Hekari.
@VinceRugari Island Teams want things done island ways, people from outside need to understand how people in the pacific operates and those in the pacific need to understand if you want to be professional mindset has to change
@BigRed_AKLD_FC@BBLPERRY Whilst they aren’t bad, I’ve never really seen anything come from them. Phoenix had two Fijians (male and female) train with their youth side last year. Couple years ago to solo players trained at Victory as well. About a decade ago I pretty sure OFC offered full blown scholars
@BBLPERRY@BigRed_AKLD_FC Wouldn’t be able to sign a deal till 18, OFC teams
Likely to use foreign spots on already established players - OFC should be getting these types of players scholarship deals at NZ high schools and training with A league youth
Sides
@espenstrand seems more of an upgraded version of a Trezeguet type winger, make good runs into the box, comes inside (pause). Not going to give us width, potential to be better having Cash overlap to create space for him to get balls into the box or position himself to receive in the pocket
@BigRed_AKLD_FC I can see Krishna playing for the Bula Boys and then playing in either the NSW or VIC NPL with the extra OFC foreign spot now available to teams
