Trading will take everything from you
Your money. Your confidence. Your patience. Your sleep.
And then one day — if you don’t quit —
It gives it all back.
With interest
The market pays you for doing things most people hate:
Waiting when nothing is happening.
Buying when you're uncertain.
Selling when you're wrong.
Holding when you're right.
Doing nothing when there's nothing to do.
@TraderDivergent I also have same thought process. To be honest. Your each and every words is same what I constantly reminding myself from this book. This is not just a book with words. Even million dollar can’t justify cost of learning’s from this book. This is a true bible of trading.
A study was done on 77,000 accounts at a large discount broker from 1990 to 1996. The findings revealed:
1. Investors are more likely to allow a stock to reach a large loss than they are to allow a stock to attain a large gain; they hold losers too long and sell winners too quickly.
2. The probability of buying additional shares is greater for shares that have lost value than it is for shares that have gained value. Investors may readily double down their bets when stocks decline in value.
3. Investors are more likely to take a small gain than a small loss.
The results would be no different 50 years ago, or 50 years from now.
@Abhishekkar_ A infant drinks only milk . We start our life by drinking milk. I'm not saying but nature itself saying that dairy is necessary for humans.
As per me, problem is not in dairy products. Problem is in ourselves we don't do physical activities we just sit at chair to earn.
Everyone wants to be a trading millionaire,
But no one knows how to win.
99% of people think trading is gambling, so they:
- Go all in
- Change system every week
- Give up after 2-3 accounts blown
Follow the trading blueprint to become a successful trader:
1) Show up every day
- The more you show up the more you gain skills and experience
- The more you show up the more you beat your competition
- Most traders give up within 3 years
2) Keep risk under control
- The #1 trading goal is to survive
- The more you survive the more you gain knowledge, skills and experience
- Risk management is the most underrated trading skill
3) Develop a trading edge
- A trading edge is the advantage you have against the market
- You can't win without a trading edge, it's your most important offensive weapon
- Study charts. Train your eye. Develop your trading weapon.
4) Produce consistent efforts
- Have plans, systems, routines and follow them consistently
- Don't change system after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 losses
- Don't break rules to satisfy your emotions
5) Have an insanely long term view (5+ years)
- You can't become successful in 30-60 days
- You need time to develop skills like discipline, confidence and patience
Trading edge + consistent execution + long term view = Trading success
The difference between predicting the price or trading the price.
In predicting, you trade when trade is in your mind instead of chart.
But, In real trading the price is made twice. 1st in your mind then in your chart.
As the market doesn't care what mess is going on your mind.
