Through sustained and tireless efforts to prevent and control Marburg virus disease, and in accordance with the standards set by the World Health Organization, no new cases have been recorded for 42 consecutive days.
As a result, we have successfully contained and controlled Marburg virus disease and decisively mitigated the associated risk.
On today’s occasion, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Honorable Mr. Tagesse Chafo for delivering the opening remarks at the Marburg virus disease response recognition, review, and appreciation forum.
I also express my gratitude to all leaders and participants who honored our invitation and took part in this important program.
Our health professionals, healthcare workers, and leaders across the health sector served tirelessly; day and night; under extremely challenging conditions, often placing their own lives at risk in the line of duty.
On behalf of myself and the Ministry of Health, I extend my deepest appreciation to all professionals, leaders, and stakeholders for their exceptional dedication and commitment.
In particular, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of our health professionals, staff members, and community members who lost their lives in the course of protecting and safeguarding our communities from Marburg virus disease.

🇪🇹 had an active and productive presence at #UNGA80, where we engaged leaders and partners on the most pressing global health priorities.
Our participation emphasized the critical links between climate and health, the need to strengthen primary health care and emergency preparedness, and the urgency of addressing noncommunicable diseases and mental health.
We also used the opportunity of bilateral and multilateral meetings to reaffirm Ethiopia’s commitment to resilient health systems and to advancing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Looking forward to building on this momentum and deepening partnerships that put health at the center of sustainable development.

It gives me great pleasure to share that 🇪🇹 has achieved Maturity Level 3 in medicines regulation, as recognized by the World Health Organization.
Reaching this level is more than a technical achievement. It strengthens public confidence, enhances our ability to respond to health threats, and brings us closer to the resilient health system our communities deserve. It also aligns closely with Ethiopia’s agenda for local manufacturing of medicines and vaccines, ensuring sustainable access and self-reliance.
This milestone serves as a testament to the collective action and hard work of @ EFDA and our partners, who together have strengthened the systems that guarantee the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medical products in our country.
We will continue to build on this progress, guided by our unwavering commitment to protect the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Minister @MekdesDaba and I know that providing healthcare to women and girls is not just right, it's smart—building stronger economies and healthier communities. The Hamlin Fistula Hospital is an example of how we're working together on life-changing maternal health.

A remarkable coalition of global philanthropists, including @mbz_foundation and @gatesfoundation, has come together to tackle the crisis of maternal and newborn mortality across sub-Saharan Africa. And at the helm? Four extraordinary women leading this new initiative. @Tala_AlRamahi, @AliceKangethe, @AnitaZaidi and H.E. Dr. @MekdesDaba. They tell me how the Beginnings Fund is set to change the odds for millions.
