@yanivrev@bssnagpur@ShaileshJoglek1@IDF It was a great privilege and honour to host and conduct you around, Sir. Your visit was truly inspirational and motivational to the cadets. Our heartfelt gratitude for sparing your valuable time.
Your annual reminder that satya, ahinsa, satyagrah had no role in Britain’s decision to free India. The real reasons:
1. WWII left Britain bankrupt, owing huge debts, making colonial administration too costly.
2. That debt was mostly from the US, which opposed old-style imperialism via the Atlantic Charter (1941) and pressured the UK to decolonize.
3. The Labour Party came to power in 1945 in the UK. It was openly anti-imperialist, seeing the empire as a burden and focusing on building the welfare state instead of maintaining colonial rule.
4. The western world was seeing a rise of anti-colonial sentiments. WWII’s rhetoric of freedom and democracy clashed with imperial rule; colonialism was increasingly seen as hypocritical and illegitimate globally.
5. The United Nations came into existence, and its 1945 Charter encouraged self-government; Britain faced international scrutiny and moral pressure to grant independence.
6. The rise of armed nationalist movements in colonies like India and Palestine made governance costly and unstable. The British army was overstretched, under-equipped, and war-weary, unable to manage widespread armed insurgencies.
As a result, Britain freed over 60 colonies after WWII, usually based on their economic value and the resources needed to control them. Only one of these had satya, ahinsa, satyagrah. If that really worked, India would have been free decades earlier; Gandhi had been waving that banner for years, and the British didn’t budge until they were broke and exhausted.
So the idea that dedi hame aazadi bina khadag bina dhaal is is simply not true.

Only daughter of Rama and Harish Bhanot, Neerja was fondly called 'Laado' by her parents & brothers
Beautiful and a successful model, she became a flight attendant with Pan Am in 1985
This day in 1986, she was the senior purser of Pam Am flight 73 with 379 passengers from 14 countries going from Mumbai to USA via Karachi and Frankfurt
But when it landed in Karachi at dawn, Palestinian terrorists dressed as airport security guards entered the flight
At just 22, Neerja displayed tremendous presence of mind and managed to secretly relay the hijack code to the cockpit. The pilots managed to exit the plane along with the flight engineer. This action meant the hijackers could not force the plane to take off immediately
The first victim was made to kneel down and shot dead - a Kenyan born Indian origin American - 29 year old Rajesh Kumar. The hijackers decided to target American passengers as their bargaining tool and ordered the cabin crew to collect all the passports
To save lives, Neerja and two other cabin crew hid American passports in trash bags and under seats, all the while reassuring, serving and attending to their needs
After almost 16 hours of hijack aided by inefficiency of Pakistani authorities, the aircraft lost power and in the darkness of night, the terrorists opened fire at passengers....
Somehow, cabin crew and passengers managed to open emergency exits and evacuated many despite bullets and grenades flying around....
Young Braveheart Neerja Bhanot did all anyone humanly could and took multiple bullets even as she saved three children among many others. 20 passengers lost their lives and many were injured
Just 2 days short of her 23rd birthday... while her parents were planning a party for her.... our courageous, committed and compassionate Braveheart Neerja Bhanot sacrificed her life doing her duty🙏🇮🇳
Awarded India's highest award for peacetime gallantry- the Ashok Chakra and many other awards, the 22 year old Neerja is today known as the 'world's bravest flight attendant' 🫡🇮🇳

A week ago, Bronze medalist from 2018, Aneesh Pillai of India wasn’t allowed to compete in his event after he tested positive for COVID-19
Yesterday, Australia’s Tahlia McGrath plays in the womens cricket final despite testing positive for the same virus
So you’re telling me a Covid-positive Aussie cricketer was ALLOWED to play in the Commonwealth Games.
But we DEPORTED Novak Djokovic because he was “such a threat” to Australia for being unjabbed.
The hypocrisy is sickening.
Silent service, I spotted this Sardarji a couple of times on my walk. Quietly offering food to homeless without any fanfare. Today I requested him for a picture which he hesitatingly allowed. Huge respect for such selfless heros of the society.
