I have always joked that for every 10 software engineers, there is 1 hardware engineer, and for every 10 digital engineers, there is 1 analog engineer.

Analog designers are underrated (and underpaid imo, for what they do), because if their shit don't work, the chip does not power on. When ace analog engineers (not me) talk about their circuits, you can "taste it in the air." No better way to explain it. They really know what they're talking about.

They design their circuits to work over a 6-sigma range; you can throw a good analog part into a goddamn volcano, and it will work (not literal). That's how good these guys are.

Like one of the comments to my quoted tweet pointed out, analog content doesn't have the same pricing power as digital chips. They are the "boring plumbing" that nobody notices until it is gone (I don't want to use the term bottleneck here; it means clogged toilet).

Analog guys are not designed to handle this much fame.
It pushes them past 6-sigma levels, and they break down.

At the risk of sounding cruel, this is the kind of pressure that parents put which makes children think failing an exam is akin to the end of life. Poor kid seems to have better emotional regulation than her mother.

CET of Karnataka was perhaps the best & most transparent qualification entrance exam in the country for medical courses within state. Most sought out by out of state students as well. Why did we agree for being part of #NEET?
No one in our batch of grads(2000) even took JEE exams coz Karnataka had the best pool of Pvt & Govt engineering &
Medical colleges. My friend got 17th rank in CET that year & the only college he ever wanted to study was KREC Surathkal.
That’s how simply it was for back then.
This nationalisation of higher education is screwed beyond repair now..
