The period from prenatal to three is the most uniquely consequential window in all of human development.
It is during this period that the fundamental architecture of the brain is “wired” in ways that will serve to support - or hinder - your child’s longterm success in school and life.
Optimal development depends on stable, nurturing and attentive relationships.
In other words, it depends on YOU.
Talk, sing, and read to your baby.
Look them in the eyes.
Play.
Then do it some more.
The dividends will be lifelong.

A Harvard professor focused on the future of work says college degrees are becoming less important in the workplace than the social and executive functioning skills mastered (or not) during the years of early childhood. https://t.co/yPN8QcK7Bh
“Tune in, talk more, take turns” from DAY ONE! I loved learning about the research behind talking and the brain from researcher and doctor Dana Suskind. How talk builds babies’ brains: Big Brains podcast | University of Chicago News https://t.co/uttaCdeCq4
Welcome to my account where I now share podcasts for laundry, dishes, commute time and much more 😉! This is one of my favorites from The Brain Architects; a MUST LISTEN about early brain development and why it is so incredibly important.

Every April #earlychildhood educators mark the Week of the Young Child. There could hardly be a better illustration of why than this clip from @sesamestreet which captures all the beauty and potential of our work. Be sure to watch until the end. #WOYC2022
@spcefoxes@schoolcraftnow The decision to close such an incredible center is such a disappointment. I understand the land is worth a lot, but what about an investment in pre-service educators and our youngest learners? We all say it’s “priceless”… but money talks. So terrible.
@Acrayyy @joangebhardt@NAEYC@cernyg@schoolcraftnow I totally agree with you. The CC is implementing anti-bias and DAP curriculum for ALL learners. Schoolcraft College has a multitude of partnerships- let’s work WITH them to build on the current ECE experiences for adult learners and young children. ..not take them away.
I am devastated by the decision of Schoolcraft College to close the beloved Children's Center, a respected @NAEYC school where my children are THRIVING under amazing staff members and care. I'm sad for the future of early childhood education. @cernyg@joangebhardt@schoolcraftnow
@joangebhardt@cernyg@schoolcraftnow Lots of tough decisions, no doubt. Sadly, this decision affects children, staff, and the future of edu through adult learners. There are very few centers left implementing developmentally appropriate and anti-bias curriculum to the caliber of the Children’s Center. I am, too 💔.
