'South African Banks Don’t Believe In Black Talent'
Are South African banks r*cist?
More than three decades after apartheid was dismantled, these financial institutions that had profited under the r*cist regime continue to practice r*cism, according to Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a former member of Parliament representing the Economic Freedom Fighters party.
Many have accused the banks of charging unreasonable fees and playing the role of loan shark with the majority working-class Black population.

A Nigerian Challenges The IMF’s Counterintuitive Economic Recommendations For Nigeria
Nana Fatima Bello, a Nigerian writer and social-political commentator, has a few words to say about the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) latest recommendations for Nigeria.
Upon reporting that 63 per cent of the Giant of Africa’s 242 million people continue to live in poverty and that 27 million Nigerians are food insecure, the IMF offered a strange solution: More taxes!
Already, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unprecedented obedience to the IMF and the World Bank since 2023 has led to runaway inflation, leaving families struggling to afford food and fuel.

Dr Joshua Maponga - The Classroom Must Serve African Development
Joshua Maponga has done it again.
In this clip from the 3 June premiere in Dar es Salaam of The Spearhead’s documentary challenging the Western narrative on Tanzania's post-election violence, ‘What Happened on October 29?’ the philosopher called for Tanzania to toss out its colonial-era curriculum. He suggested the government prepare young people to become stewards of the east African country’s vast natural resources.
Indeed, Tanzania ranks third in Africa for critical mineral reserves. Half of Tanzania’s exports are minerals, which generate $2.5 billion annually, according to the US International Trade Administration. Plus, revenues are expected to surge to $6.6 billion by 2027.
So do you agree with Maponga that Tanzanians should develop the skills to take control of their natural wealth? And what is education like in your African country? Drop us a comment.

TikTok Flags Spearhead Videos... For Racism
Sometime this April 2026, The Spearhead was forced to take down a report it had posted on TikTok, a report which, according to TikTok, contained hate speech, specifically a racial slur.
The racial slur in question was “Niger”.
As in the independent, internationally-recognized West African country, Niger.
How did TikTok’s proprietary, multibillion-dollar, AI-powered content moderating system manage to somehow forget that Niger is a country?
And could this “bug” have something to do with the platform's recent acquisition by the United States government?
