@EmilyKerr36 I think if colleges supplied pillows, duvets and some basic cooking equipment as hotels and hostels do, that would cut down studentsโ luggage down to the point that it would be possible to do the termly journey by public transport
Amazing to not only attend #Microbio24 with an enthusiastic group of scientists from @SangerPathogens but also meet lots of new people excited about bacteria! I wonder what people on the journey home made of our animated conversations about sewage?
Saw this cool paper by @ErikBakkeren and @francesspragge1 in @ScienceMagazine on why a diverse microbiome prevents pathogen colonisation- thought it would be a nice excuse to draw something for the first time in a while!
Great to present "Secrets of tears" at #FIS2023 as part of the @MicrobioSoc Infection Science Award! The associated paper, "Longitudinal changes in tear cytokines and antimicrobial proteins in trachomatous disease", is out in @PLOSNTDs now! https://t.co/ahVs5afMJG
Meet one of this yearโs Infection Science Awardees, @amberjoybarton, who will be presenting her work carried out at the @LSHTM in the Infectious Disease session on 15 November 2023 at #FIS23. Read the blog: https://t.co/ZTUgvljq5J ๐
The final paper from my PhD is finally out! Using transcriptomics we find evidence of an early innate immune response on the same day as experimental human challenge with typhoidal Salmonella https://t.co/h4prWl4pcU
Genomic, clinical & immunity data join forces for public health
This Genome Watch highlights how integrating genomic surveillance with epidemiological or clinical data can help understand pathogen transmission & improve public health interventions for infectious disease control
New publication with @LSHTM and @SSI_dk out in @FrontImmunol today! Using systems serology we found that systemic IgG and functional antibody responses were not associated with protection against ocular Chlamydia infections https://t.co/jTH1g5NFOn
Ahead of #WomenAndGirlsInScience day, @EqualityScience team organised a panel to reflect on Her Royal Science film featuring the experiences of minoritised individuals in STEM with @HanifaMuzz@MariyaChhatriw2 Minal Patel & Nneka Anyanwu. An insightful and honest conversation!
What a fab November- two publications on the immunogenetics of underrepresented groups (Maasai and Gambians) in Human Immunology, plus one trail marathon! Both the result of a long slog & great team https://t.co/0drUFxtu6S https://t.co/3h6XyNTrPj
So pleased to welcome our new Postdoctoral Affiliates @Newnham_College Lots of computational and cancer research interests and philanthropy and sustainable fashion.
Delighted have passed my PGCert in learning and teaching viva today and be recommended for fellowship of the higher education academy- thank you @LSHTM
