I tend to go silent when something doesn’t make me feel good, upsets me or hurts me. When someone else notices the shift in my energy, they tend to ask what’s happening. Choosing silence at first isn’t a form of avoidance. Some of us need to process our emotions first
Dysfunctional parents teach their children that family is everything even when there’s no support. If their adult child tries to stand up for themselves, they’re painted as ungrateful. They demand respect, but don’t to give it. The relationship is about compliance, not connection.
This is interesting.. I get the notion that my mom was overlooked, held way too much responsibility for her age, and also… humbly helped take care of her siblings (older and younger) throughout their transition to America. Middle child tingz.
Siblings are the most beautiful mirrors we have. Watching my mom be with her siblings gives me an insight into their childhood. Seeing my mom be young again is so healing. I’m getting to a place where my joy is so intertwined with her joy.
