@AKnowmadic Thank you for teaching us… defining “lived experience”, “good selfishness vs bad selfishness”, and our responsibility to help students shine their light. #BCTFagm2023
If you are a Surrey Teacher and haven't registered to attend and vote at our AGM, you have until noon today. https://t.co/Sd5XBmqkM7 #sd36learn Looking forward to the election as this year I am running as 1st Vice President
I suspect whatever #BCedEnhancedMeasures get announced will not be sufficient. What could realistically be in place for next week? Return to in-person schooling needs to be delayed. #bced#bcpoli
The pandemic has shown just how important #bced schools are to kids and their wellbeing. It has also proven that public education and teachers are essential to the #bcpoli economy. It’s time to back that up with the funding and support our students need to thrive.
Very useful to read the thread and understand how much information we don't have. If students are 12% of cases and are 12% of the population, then students are not lower than other age groups....
BC needs to report more detailed data, instead of invoking privacy, unpersuasively as an excuse for not providing more granular information about COVID-19 cases. And also report cases on weekends, as other provinces manage to do. #bcpoli#bced
And only 1 student washing their hands at a time. Try 25 students lining up to wash for 30 seconds 8 to 15 times per day. (Assuming there is a sink in the room - which most of the more than 300 portables in Surrey don't have)
.@bcndp and its disastrous #bced ad. Here is their explanation for why there were so few students and why the desks were placed farther apart than what we are facing in September.
@jjhorgan, ever hear of something called irony??
Except this time BC families are at stake. 😢
Beyond the part where I'm uncomfortable with @DrBonnieHenry doing an ad for the gov't; And, that this looks nothing like most classrooms (desks empty, 6 kids, so clean); WHY is the only student wearing a mask Asian?! #bced
Minister @NavdeepSBains: side with Canadians, not Big Telecom Take urgent action to ensure fast and affordable Internet. Internet is essential-not a luxury. Don’t make people choose between food or access. @MaryamMonsef@JustinTrudeau https://t.co/gwR4h7khxA via @openmediaorg
@vauvent Great interview Matt. I think you nailed it that the plan needs further work. Simple considerations of a family of 4 children could have each child in a different learning group which then extends the group from 60 to 240 and likely with more siblings the exposure is now 100%
Excited to have been able to share my speech to run for #BCTF Member at large with our #bctfagm2020 delegates. If you missed it, here it is https://t.co/q5eV6HRGLU Inclusion, Bargaining, Divergent thinker.
Getting ready for Session 2 of the #bctf AGM. Normally I would be handing out buttons before the session. I am running for BCTF Member at Large. These handmade buttons will have to wait another day to give out ...
The model isn’t designed to be fair to workers. Have BCPSEA negotiators with an agenda and limited funds to not even consider solutions to address equity for students, parents or teachers. I agree it is done and that is a positive but there is so much that needs to be done
Exciting that @Rob_Fleming may be working to resolve Failure to Fill or when students don’t get a replacement teacher that day. This shortage happened 10 000 times in one district in one year #bctf
