I was proud to announce the extension of the Cessation Mitigation Fund today alongside @AMDanaLevenberg.
This critical support will provide @henhudschools with additional resources as our local economy continues to adjust to the closure of Indian Point.
This legislation brings transparency, clear cosigner release standards, & strong enforcement tools to hold predatory lenders accountable. With changes in federal policy shifting more students toward the private student loan market, we need these protections now. (2/3)
I thank my colleagues for voting in favor of this common sense bill, as well as my colleague Senator Pete Harckham, who sponsored the Senate version. I'd also like to thank CSEA for their work and support on this legislation. Now to the Governor's desk for signature! (3/3)
Maria Coto was a Westchester DSS worker who tragically lost her life on the job. She knocked on the wrong door and was beaten so badly that she died of her injuries. My legislation to help prevent such tragedies, A.7833A, passed both houses of the Legislature yesterday. (1/3)
This legislation will require social services agencies to provide staff doing home visits with panic buttons, so they can get help quickly if they are in danger. (2/3)
NYers should not be forced to pay the price for unchecked data center expansion. I joined advocates calling for a moratorium on new data centers as communities face rising energy costs, increased strain on our power grid & threats to our land & water resources. Pass A10141!
We don't just pay for health care in co-pays and premiums - we also pay for it in our property taxes, especially here in NY. The New York Health Act would save local governments & school districts billions in taxpayer dollars, putting money back in your pocket. Read more ⬇️

NY lags behind other states when it comes to earned time & other measures that enable incarcerated people to demonstrate rehabilitation & reduce their sentences. I'm a proud supporter of the Earned Time Act & am ready to vote yes on this bill, in committee & on the floor.
We had a busy week in Albany focused on getting the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA) over the finish line. Thank you to PRRIA supporters @AMDanaLevenberg, @tonysimone, @ebottcher, @SenatorHarckham, and Assemblymember MaryJane Shimsky!
Thank you to @AMDanaLevenberg for sponsoring the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA, bill number A1749A), and for continuing to put people over plastic in the face of intense petrochemical industry opposition. We are grateful for your leadership!
New Yorkers are paying too much for climate damage. I'm proud to co-sponsor the Stop Climate Polluters Handout Act to authorize NYS to pull back $350 million annually in subsidies for fossil fuel companies. We deserve this money back - let's pass this legislation in the budget!
Relying on an energy source so vulnerable to geopolitical conflict is absurd, especially when renewable alternatives are already more affordable and far more stable.

Important article via @nysfocus that demonstrates the absurdity of the Governor’s attempt to gut New York’s climate law. Her NYSERDA memo is a manufactured crisis. A red herring as NYers suffer from high energy bills due to gas. https://t.co/q8BBvwkbyv
Why am I so interested in solar?
Because it’s the most affordable energy source to build today, and that’s not just coming from liberals and progressives.
Indian Point closed for a variety of reasons. Reopening it now, despite cheaper alternatives being available, and in the context of the most chaotic and risky presidential administration in American history, is a total non-starter.
