Please help Lubna, a dear friend and colleague, pursue her academic dream amid unimaginable grief and loss. As she writes @intifada "Every step I take toward earning this degree, I now see as a tribute to those we have lost."
Please share and/or contribute to Abu Sitta’s fundraiser, created to help her pay tuition fees, due by July 15 - only a few days left!

It was an honor and pleasure to work on this article with the incredible @intifada team. This article includes novel findings that I am very excited to be able to share with the Electronic Intifada readership. This includes the fact that the earliest known instance of a version of the myth that "Israel created Hamas"--albeit, since Hamas had not yet formed, the claim was that "Israel created the Islamic Movement--was propagated by Mohammad Dahlan during a courtyard debate at the Islamic University of Gaza with Yahya al-Sinwar in 1983.
This is hitherto the article that I worked most arduously on, poring over extant witness accounts to provide the a comprehensive historical analysis. Thank you dearly @TamaraINassar and @maureenclarem
what Israel is doing to Gaza’s civilians, the families, the parents, the children, the elderly, by not allowing caravans to enter and for reconstruction to begin, and by forcing people to remain displaced in tents during a harsh winter, exposed around the clock to the elements, is unbearable. children are dying of hypothermia. families are dying because their bombed homes are collapsing on them. people are freezing at night as their tents flood.
imagine living in a tent for years. it rains then floods while you and your children are inside. then the wind hits. you have nowhere to go and nowhere to find warmth. your belongings, your papers, what remains of your food, electronics, your money, and your clothes, everything is submerged. you spend the night cold and wet.
this is slow death. this is extreme cruelty. this is murder by a thousand wounds. first through large scale bombardment and incineration, then through starvation and displacement, and now by exposing people to the elements and denying them the basic human right of shelter...
@FahamuAfrica Should there not be a clear naming of global actors in contributing to situation? For instance the role of US military (africom) ties with both Cameroon and Tanzania and elsewhere and also IFI programs focused on “security” building up police forces.
In the heart of a broken road, in a displacement with no end, and a suffering that has become a lifetime of endurance, I keep searching for a modest apartment for my family in a city devastated by the brutal occupation—its features almost erased by the rubble, leaving behind nothing but costly ruins and wounded homes struggling to stand.
I left my family in the south, walking forward with tired steps, carrying a small hope: to return with a key in my hand, one that opens a door to life again, a door that takes us from the oppression of the tent to something that resembles home.
Alongside this struggle, my dear friend Omar and I continue searching for a safe corner where we can bring life back to the books we rescued from beneath the ruins. Each page that survived is a witness that knowledge cannot be bombed. We dream of founding the first community library in Gaza—a library born from agony, breathing from the ashes of rubble, preserving what remains of our words, and opening a window of light in a city that has not died, even if it has disappeared from the map.
With such companionship, exhausted dreams learn to walk on steady feet. And patience becomes lighter when it rests upon two hearts!
Here we remain. The dream endures.
Freedom is our appointment 🇵🇸
Stricken Gaza Strip — 11/2025
If there is a man who truly deserves to be called the best on social media in Gaza , or rather, the best in the eyes of the crushed, impoverished souls in the tents, shelters, orphanages, and the Mawasi camps , it is my friend, my brother, and the friend and brother of everyone: @OmarHamadD
This man gave everything he possibly could, and no one thanked him. I respect the uniqueness of this man. I love him. He is human in every sense of the word. Everywhere I go, I hear his name whispered among the poor. He gave everything he collected in donations to those in need. He stitched, sewed, and crafted warm clothes for orphans in the harsh winter. I saw him cover homes during the peak of starvation , homes that would have otherwise remained cold and dark. I know this because I witnessed it. And he deserves to be thanked , not just because he gave what he had to others, but because when he gave, there was no one else there for them.
My brother Omar was the friend of the poor in Gaza.
I want to thank him. I love him deeply. And you all should love him too❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's hard not to feel utter disgust toward the organizations, scholars & activists who are completely silent about ongoing hunger strike.
They're above even a retweet, as Hoxha and Casey's starving bodies begin to cannibalize.
A movement that abandons its captives is doomed.
day 24 of Tueta Hoxha's hunger strike & day 8 of Casey Goonan's hunger strike. keep the pressure on. symbolic support is not enough. https://t.co/9N1iP4faQj
