These plant-based recipes is a great way to end the semester. As I reflect on how I can continue to incorporate nutrition in my future, I’ve learned that there are many people who face eating restrictions who can get the necessary protein they need through this. @beh353#beh353
@KarinaThomas353 @beh353 Hi Karina, I completely understand your point. I had never drank caffeine like the way I currently do until I came to college. This article is great because it shows that even though we may think it is safe, it’s never safe to be “addicted” to something. @beh353#beh353
This class has showed me the benefits of being nutritionist in health. I plan to incorporate nutrition in my future role in healthcare by continuing to share the importance of reading food labels and understanding them as well as different health barriers. @beh353#beh353
This source correlates obesity and processed foods. I found processed foods to be an important theme this week as it could be healthy; however, it raises concerns about their impact on people with limited food options, potentially leading to obesity. @beh353#beh353
Obesity affected 1.7 million children and adolescents from 2017-2020. Understand how to address weight issues in children and teens with healthy guidelines on https://t.co/hSBiEmCZIE’s “Weight Management for Youth” webpage. https://t.co/vrenmq49TY #EveryKidHealthyWeek
@KarinaThomas353 @EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 I agree! I'm intrigued by how her work challenges common misconceptions and promotes a more inclusive understanding of nutrition. It’s nice that someone talks about this, especially because we thought processed foods are unhealthy but it’s actually healthier. @beh353#beh353
@EmmaDArpinoRD, thank you for your interesting talk about food and body image! I learned that some processed foods are good for us, giving us more nutrients, vitamins, and energy. Frozen foods can also be ripe and cheaper than fresh ones. @beh353#beh353
This is a great source to read especially because oftentimes we correlate eating healthy to reducing the amount of food we eat. Eating healthy does not equal reducing food, rather it means to improve diet quality as shown below with the example of diabetes. @beh353#beh353
@MarinaAlex113@beh353 This seems like a great article. It’s sad to hear that there have been many premature deaths due to not eating healthy. The Mediterranean diet is a great diet & I liked how the article is simple and allows us to understand the importance of switching to this diet. @beh353#beh353
I would recommend my patients to read this Harvard Health plant based diet article. https://t.co/XJ9d11AJMt It’s imp to have veggies incorporated into your diet and this article is very simple to read & follow. Also a great guide for those who don’t eat meat. @beh353#beh353
@t711ngu@beh353 I agree!! Oftentimes we compare health with looks but that is not always the case. It’s important to take care of yourself first before comparing to others because most times they are probably in the same boat thinking of changing correlating looks with health. @beh353#beh353
This is a great article! It discusses how it’s important to allow overweight people to feel welcomed and good about themselves rather ashamed all the time. There are many healthcare biases in the system and it’s important to treat and respect everyone the same. @beh353#beh353
People who live with #overweight / #obesity deserve better than to be blamed and shamed. This article suggests ways to reduce #weightstigma for a more meaningful conversation:

The bias in healthcare that stood out was by watching the lecture. These biases have been seen in obese patients and to help this in future patients I would use awareness and emphasize that every patient should be seen the same regardless of size, color, etc. @beh353#beh353
This article that Nancy Clark reposted, is related to this week’s topic b/c I learned that lack of sleep can cause obesity. This article talks about a sleep study with caffeine and how taking it can affect your sleep cycle causing obesity in the long run. @beh353#beh353
Athletes: caffeine is known to disrupt sleep. How much time should lapse between your last cup of caffeinated coffee and bedtime? This study suggests ~9 hours-- that means, 1:00pm for a 10:00pm bedtime.https://t.co/U5gifSJezw Open access
@MarinaAlex113@beh353 This also stood out to me when watching the video. Minority groups have definitely been impacted by the obesity epidemic the most. One way we can stop this is by providing better access to food & by enforcing cheaper prices on healthier foods for families to buy. @beh353#beh353
It stood out to me that fat shaming can lead to shame & depression. I also learned about the stats that were present in the video such the percentage of genders being affected w obesity. I will use this moving forward by enforcing healthy eating for my family & I. #beh353@beh353
This is amazing because it helps you get an idea of how important it is to eat healthy and even when you have barriers such as cheapness of healthy vs unhealthy or lack of time this serves as a reminder of what can happen if you don’t fix eating habits. @beh353#beh353

@KarinaThomas353 @beh353 Hi Karina, I agree with your response. I can also relate to that barrier as well as I often find myself ordering out during midterm week only because I am staying at school to study till late at night. I’ve learned to just take more healthier snacks. @beh353#beh353
In table 3 one of the barriers that I relate with is relative cheapness of unhealthy foods, bc as a college student, it is hard to meal prep and afford organic veggies and fruits rather than frozen food which sometimes makes me lean more toward the frozen option @beh353#beh353
@MarinaAlex113@beh353 Hi Marina, this is a great example of supplements. I think B-complex tablets are a great source of vitamins especially as college students who may not be eating proper meals. I’ve also read that these supplements help boost cognitive performance & relieve stress. @beh353#beh353
This is a great article on another very important supplement, Vitamin C. I was able to learn a lot from this article as I also take vitamin C gummies as a supplement to increase my immunity so I don’t stay sick for long periods of times. @beh353#beh353
Why do we need #vitaminC? It's a powerful #antioxidant and essential for #collagensynthesis. Check out my latest video for a brief #history of the water-soluble nutrient and learn the best #cooking techniques to get adequate daily vitamin C. https://t.co/KPcSvprb5J
