So The Election Commission @ECISVEEP has just now come up with a statement on today’s developments which makes it clear that Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi and the MPs were not simply seeking a meeting with the Election Commissioners, but were attempting to confront and corner them.

The ECI has clarified that no meeting had been requested through the prescribed procedure before 4 PM, and that the request for a meeting of around 240 MPs at Parliament House Annexe was contrary to established protocol.

The Commission even offered to send its senior-most officer to receive their memorandum, but the offer was declined. This is an unprecedented and disturbing situation in a democracy.

Instead of working to regain the trust of the people, a defeated and desperate opposition appears to be pushing the country towards confrontation and anarchy…
