The mother is weeping saying "I don't have anything to feed my children", her child who seems less than 2 years old is wiping the tears of her mother. Reversing the roles of children, and trying to console their parents. All this is due to the negligence of world leaders @USAmbUN
Ethiopia: Regime-backed mass killings of Amhara communities in the Arsi Zone of Oromia Region reportedly continue. More than 50 Amharas have been killed, hundreds displaced, and an Ethiopian Orthodox church burned.

The @_AfricanUnion and @UN, alongside humanitarian and rights organizations, should prioritize:
independent access for monitoring
protection of civilians
credible accountability mechanisms
and sustained pressure for inclusive political settlement
I have been reporting that local cadres are systematically filling voter registration cards using the names of individuals who never appeared to register, and, in some cases, people who do not even exist.
According to multiple reports, officials have been instructed to register 1,500 voters per polling station regardless of whether eligible voters actually show up. The plan is then to cast ballots in those names on the eve of the election or on election day itself.
The objective is clear: to manufacture the appearance of a massive voter turnout and counter opposition claims that large numbers of citizens have been unable to register because of the ongoing conflicts in Amhara and Oromia.
Over the past weeks, I have posted evidence showing cadres filling out registration cards inside their offices. Here is further evidence: stacks of completed registration cards prepared in advance.

A national election derives legitimacy from national participation. When entire regions and millions of citizens are excluded, the claim of national representation becomes difficult to sustain.

Response to our readers requesting election day reporting from #Addis_Standard
We regret to inform you that Addis Standard is unable to provide the election day field reporting coverage we had prepared and intended to deliver.
This follows the unjustified measure taken against Addis Standard by the Ethiopian Media Authority (EMA) through the announcement of the “revocation” of our registration certificate. As a direct consequence, the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) declined to issue accreditation badges to the ten journalists and two camera crew members whose names we formally submitted in compliance with the Board’s accreditation requirements.
This outcome is not an isolated administrative decision. Rather, it reflects a broader and sustained pattern of institutional actions that have systematically constrained and disabled our work, including at a time when our newsroom was finalizing preparations for a special election coverage plan in March 2026. During the 2021 national election, our newsroom deployed seven journalists across multiple locations in four regional states to provide live, on-the-ground reporting and bring diverse realities of the electoral process to our audiences. The accompanying photographs document that commitment.
We had hoped to do more this year through a portal exclusively dedicated for the election - https://t.co/fzeV8dEGoF

A widespread and horrific attack targeting Orthodox Christians and churches is happening in the Oromia region, East Arsi zone, Aseko woreda since May 31, 2026.
Local residents have informed me by phone that so far 49 people have lost their lives, and they fear that more than 280 people whose whereabouts are unknown and who cannot be reached by phone may have also been killed.
The residents stated that OLA (Shene) militants carried out the attack and mentioned these armed groups had previously attacked an area called 'Teleta Gabriel' more than seven times.
What makes the current situation different is, they said, is that militants from Merti woreda, Fentale, Kereyu, and the Itu area all gathered together, numbering approximately three thousand. Crying and screaming in panic, residents report that these militants came to the Aseko woreda and completely burned down Biyo kebele, Teleta Gabriel, Kufte, Medhane Alem, and the surrounding areas.
Residents say the attacks have now spread to Irecha Michael, Sunte Maryam, Lencha Oda, Kwas Dire, Arba Kela, Weranbus, and various other places. They stated that, so far, not a single government force has entered the area, and the militants have laid siege to the surroundings, preventing anyone from escaping while carrying out a massacre.
This area is Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abebie's birthplace; perhaps she even knows some of the deceased, or studied or worked alongside them. Let's assume that unlike what we see in the rest of the world, that is going to the scene immediately to calm and comfort the public was impossible due to the ongoing attacks. But when such a horrific attack is committed in her birthplace, why did she fail to simply say 'rest in peace' and condemn the act?
What about other officials and security forces? Why have the country's defense forces, police, militia, air force, and other forces been unable to prevent an attack that has been going on not just for hours, but for days up to this very moment?
The situation in this country is sometimes exhausting. When the people cry out for rescue, these days they plead to the media rather than the government. Yet, when the media delivers this information to the public, it is the media itself that ends up being insulted and persecuted by both the public and the government.
Anyway, writing this gives me a bit of relief. However, the condition of the citizens I spoke to... the crying, panicking, and screaming... is a tragic reality that will never be erased from my mind.
May their souls rest in peace!
It has been brought to my attention that some people are using my name and pictures to create several Facebook accounts and post all sorts of inappropriate content. I want to clarify that I do not have any Facebook account and has not used (and I couldn’t even access) Facebook since 2020. I want to stress that none of the content posted are from me or mine.
This is how the "election" was conducted in Ethiopia yesterday: a single ruling-party cadre casting votes on multiple ballots.
First, voter registration cards were issued in the names of non-existent individuals, as shown in the picture. Then, ballots were collected, marked, and stuffed into the ballot box as shown on the video.
This was not an election; it was a manufactured outcome disguised as one.

The world should measure 🇪🇹 ’s democratic progress not only by turnout figures or official results, but by whether every citizen can participate freely, safely, and equally.
That is the standard that matters.

The people and government of Sudan, who have always been a staunch ally of the Tigray people in the most challenging circumstances, deserve respect and gratitude.
يستحق شعب السودان وحكومته، اللذان كانا دوماً حليفاً راسخاً لشعب تيغراي في أصعب الظروف، كل الاحترام والامتنان.
Here they go again: #NZ National Party wants to review NZ’s 4 decades-old #nuclearfree policy. The last time they proposed it would be “gone by lunchtime”, they were roundly defeated. Their effort to drop nuclear propulsion ban in past was also beaten back https://t.co/1jSUV8Jqv3
Sudan’s government and military have formally accused the UAE and Ethiopia of orchestrating a series of drone strikes on Khartoum’s international airport and military bases.
Critical updates:
*- Officials claim to have "conclusive evidence" including flight data from drones launched via Ethiopia's Bahir Dar airport.
*- Sudan has recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations.
*- The military asserts its right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.
