@ForwardThinkrr That’s the beauty of being a fan, you can be located anywhere in the world. Asking a question for clarification is not limited to those living in London. In case you think it is…I’ve lived in London too.
@PaulieCeee@DaleJohnsonBBC I asked a question politely for clarification. I didn’t even say it wasn’t a foul on Raya. Is intelligent discourse outlawed in your corner of the internet?
Can you compare this incident to Rashford’s red card against Burnley in 2018?
- Both players start head to head.
- Rashford “pushes with his head rather than struck - he did not pull his head back first and create space before driving it forward”
- Bardsley does NOT “go down, embellishing the level of contact”
- Straight red card for Rashford.
- No VAR in use here. So the question is: why the difference in call from the on field referee (considering all of the “nuance points” listed in your article match up)?
@MichaelDPotts@DaleJohnsonBBC@AntFwk77 So are we basically saying var can rule out goals because of a yellow card foul… but can’t award the yellow card for said fouls?
@DaleJohnsonBBC@AntFwk77 Can you please extrapolate on when it is mandatory and when it is not? Was this a tactical foul from Haaland or not? Why would this not be given as a yellow card?
@DaleJohnsonBBC@AntFwk77 It is, after all, the same action. If one is a red card for dogso, then surely the other is a yellow card for inability to play the clearance to prevent a goal. Surely it falls under a “tactical caution” ?
The Pgmol states that the var intervention goes back to the foul was was given for a “careless pullback by Haaland on Szoboszlai”… the referee played advantage on the szoboszlai pull (dogso red card offense but played advantage as ifab suggests is ok for a direct goal scoring opportunity) but once the foul is called on Haaland, surely the referee goes back to give the red card to Szobozslai after giving the advantage for a tactical red, and the needs to go to Haaland and give him a second yellow for the material foul that causes the goal to be ruled out. The var intervention is not because of Szobozslai but rather because of the Haaland pull. Otherwise the goal would have stood. Yes it comes after the red card incident, but it becomes an active foul after the advantage is played.
