The concern is simple: once your ability to work, travel, bank, access healthcare, buy food, rent a home, or participate in society depends on a digital system, those who control that system hold unprecedented power over your life.

Miss a payment, violate a rule, or fall outside approved behavior, and access can be restricted with the click of a button. Every major lever of modern life becomes connected to a centralized system.

The issue is not whether such a system will be abused tomorrow. The concern is that it creates the infrastructure for a level of control that previous generations could scarcely imagine.
