A Tunis court has sentenced Sihem Bensedrine, a prominent human rights defender and former president of the Truth and Dignity Commission, to a total of 25 years in prison and a heavy fine, apparently in retaliation for her work. https://t.co/r94A3Ge5E2
In a new report, a UN commission of inquiry credibly sets out Israel’s responsibility for atrocities against Palestinian children and even identifies military units apparently responsible.
The US and other governments should immediately suspend weapons transfers to Israel.
Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza, and war crimes in the occupied West Bank, an independent UN inquiry said https://t.co/61poVhRzmR

I appreciate the intense interest in my column. For skeptics, why not agree on Red Cross and lawyer visits for the 9,000 Palestinian "security" prisoners? If you think these abuse allegations are false, such monitoring visits would be protective. So why not?
A UN official finds the world's failure to end the disastrous humanitarian situation in Sudan "bloody unacceptable." It doesn't help that no one publicly calls out the United Arab Emirates for arming the genocidal Rapid Support Forces. https://t.co/va66ugF3wm
Today marks three years since conflict broke out in Sudan.
Three years on - civilians are still being targeted.
Here's seven things you need to know about the conflict in Sudan ⬇️
1️⃣ Since 2023, tens of thousands of people have been killed. Both sides of the conflict are rampantly violating human rights. There have been relentless and brutal attacks on civilians, including the massacre in El Fasher in October 2025 where the RSF killed civilians.
2️⃣ Over 14 million people have been displaced since April 2023, making Sudan the scene of the largest displacement crisis in the world. The humanitarian crisis faced by internally displaced people was exacerbated by acute shortages of food, water, medicines and fuel.
3️⃣ Sudan is the world’s largest hunger crisis. It is said that over 25 million people across Sudan, South Sudan, and Chad are trapped in a spiral of deteriorating food security. Severe malnutrition among young children is intensifying beyond the worst projections.
4️⃣ Amnesty International and other organizations have documented evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Widespread impunity has empowered both parties and allied militia to continue committing atrocities throughout Sudan as well as repeated cycles of violence in the country.
5️⃣ The humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan reveals a failure of regional and international response. Despite multiple ceasefires and peace initiatives, fighting continues. The international humanitarian response to Sudan remains underfunded despite humanitarian organizations warning of famine.
6️⃣ Reports of rape, sexual slavery and other forms of sexual violence emerged only days after the conflict began in 2023 and remained to be the key feature of the conflict. Survivors interviewed described massive physical and mental harm as well as devastating impacts on their families.
7️⃣ UK-made components have been found in weapons used in Sudan. The United Arab Emirates is a known supplier for arms to conflict zones like Sudan and Libya. Yet, the UK kept approving arms sales. The UK Government must immediately suspend all arms to the UAE and launch a full investigation.
Arms embargo NOW: the UN Security Council must disrupt the flow of arms in Sudan which will reduce civilian suffering.

Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham, two heads of civil society organizations in the United Kingdom, have been convicted of criminal offenses for peacefully protesting in the UK.
This is a travesty of justice and a huge blow to the right to protest.

Israel's new law imposing the death penalty on Palestinians convicted of fatal attacks is a dangerous development of its apartheid system.
It is discriminatory, racist, and cruel.
Expressions of concern are not enough. The Labour government must act to end Israel's impunity.
Spain condemns the death penalty for Palestinians passed by the Israeli parliament. This is an asymmetrical measure, as it would not apply to Israelis who committed the same crimes.
This is not justice. It is a further step towards apartheid.
The world cannot remain silent.
“The second Trump administration has been far more disruptive, damaging, and dangerous than most observers—including me—expected, and the tragically inept war with Iran is driving that point home in spades.”: https://t.co/xXTO8YKN2S
Why are crimes against Iranian, Lebanese, and Palestinian children not a priority for the European Parliament ? Because those responsible sit in Tel Aviv or Washington.
When it comes to its allies, Europe supports or condones the worst crimes, undermining international law.
