I had a huge light bulb moment last night.
I often find myself bemused with the Anglican names of the next generation of Punjabi descendants. There are a lot of dropped KAUR’s and SINGH’s with names that may give half a syllable nod to their heritage but overall are quite western.
I know, I know perhaps my thinking is black and white whilst I preach the concept of duality - embracing two seemingly conflicting aspects to yourself. However - we millennials grew up with a ton of self-abandonment and it shows.
💡 BUT THEN - yesterday as my feed was flooded with a depiction of walking and talking Punjabi royalty - our roots..I got it. We 90’s kids had nothing to hold on to. Growing up, our only representation was Apu from The Simpsons or perhaps a discreet sardar in a Bond movie or two.
So of course on the surface it’s hard to connect and anchor with our roots when there hasn’t been a whole lot to resonate with.
Overstimulated and burnt out parents didn’t have the bandwidth to foster the connection, mass media didn’t have the care; and we didn’t have the roadmap.
Fast forward to 2025 - A Regal Bespoke Sherwani. The perfect intersectional blend of formerly muted cultural identity and brand new confident self-expression.
Going forward - with Diljit’s immaculate posture and sky-ward head tilt..perhaps our children have the exact vantage point to reconnect with that which has been lost. #pridebreedsconnection #representationmatters

"If you have a strained relationship with one or both parents, ask yourself:
1. What unmet need am I chasing?
2. How much of their behavior is unhealed trauma?
3. What boundaries do I need to set to protect myself?" #innerchildhealing
"What’s a father wound? What’s a mother wound?
- Father wound: A sense of neglect, lack of validation, or emotional absence.
- Mother wound: Overbearing expectations or lack of support for your individuality.
Let’s unpack this together." #healing
"Toxic positivity for men is real. Society tells them: 'Don’t feel. Just be strong.' But pretending everything is fine doesn’t make things better. Let’s create space for men to *feel* without judgment." #toxicmasculinity
"When a parent has undiagnosed mental health struggles (because stigma kept them from getting help), guess who suffers? Their kids. The cycle of silence has real consequences." #mentalhealth
Why do we fawn or stay in relationships that don’t feel right?
- People-pleasing tendencies.
- Internalized guilt.
- Carrying the emotional burden of others.
It’s survival conditioning—but we *can* unlearn❤️🩹
