Do you know how painful it must be for the families of the over 60 people who were killed during protests to hear Kasongo today say that no Kenyan deserves to die for opposing the government or protesting against it?

For the families who buried their sons, daughters, brothers and sisters, those words must feel like an insult. They are still waiting for justice. They are still waiting for someone to be held accountable. To date, no rogue officer has been prosecuted.

You cannot preside over a government accused of brutality against protesters, remain silent while people demand justice, and then suddenly present yourself as the defender of the very rights that were violated.
