Overall, I think, Keir Starmer is cooked.

While the UK “played no part” in the original 🇺🇸🇮🇱 strikes, news that U.K. fighter jets are “part of a co-ordinated regional operation” (even if “defensive”) will largely be met with consternation, anger and outright hostility because Labour has failed to make a case for direct involvement in the run-up to a foreign war led by 🇺🇸/ 🇮🇱. Starmer did say there was a threat to the “Jewish community’ and dissidents” but presented no evidence of a direct, large scale threat to UK national security.

There is widespread support for ordinary Iranians hoping for democracy, safety and economic opportunity.

But, a large swathe of Brits remember the disasterous decision to support the US-led invasion of Iraq on false evidence. They won’t tolerate being misled into an illegal war - again - to suit the interests of foreign powers.

I can’t bring myself to the share videos that fill my timeline but I don’t know how people can see videos of patients burning in tents and not be irrevocably changed for the rest of their lives.

An airstrike in Gaza hit a hospital courtyard on Monday, burning tents where people were sleeping.

Strikes also hit an @UNRWA school where families were sheltering. The location was meant to be used as a polio vaccination site.

A ceasefire is urgently needed to stop the devastation.

But his distain for Muslim and non-Western lives and security is, of course, central to British policy since before the start of the long War on Terror.

The West continues to perpetuate colonial violence against the world.

We were ignored.

Governments have fuelled the machinery of war. Their indifference to human life has destroyed prospects for peace and endangered us all.

All of this violence was entirely avoidable. Without urgent de-escalation, more unimaginable horror is on the horizon.

It’s time to listen to the voices of ordinary people across the globe calling for peace.

That means ending the root cause of this appalling cycle of violence: the occupation of Palestine.
