On the World's first #DrowningPrevention Day, let's not forget that over 230k people (and probably thousands more in remote regions!!) drown every year.
Most of them are children.
Let's work together to identify the real burden and save thousands of lives.
Approximately 328 000 people are killed each year as a result of a road traffic crash in the Western Pacific Region.

Great to be part of the @CroakeyNews event highlighting the significant gambling harm in Australian communities, but also the great local programs to reduce harms. Thanks @MelissaSweetDr & team for the opportunity to share these stories & be part of @WePublicHealth for the week!
A personal observation from this #gamblingharms#CroakeyGO Hearing the voices of lived experience is so valuable. People have been silenced, cowed and shamed for too long. It's time to change the machine(s)
@ahbard also reflected on #GamblingHarms: “COVID has meant we’ve had an opportunity to look at what Australia would look like without gambling and what people can do with their money other than throw it down a pokie machine.” #CroakeyGO https://t.co/S7DNirr6hN

These are the faces of #gamblingharms — beautiful, strong, proud women with so many parallels in their stories.
They deserve better from our governments. They deserve for MPs to take action on this significant #publichealth issue.
