@mehdirhasan Trump tested positive on September 26th. The first debate between Trump and Biden was on September 29th. I think all of us got it right when we said that Trump and Trump's family were trying to infect Joe Biden and the Biden family that night. Also, 1/2
'The growing body of research now confirms that COVID-19 should be considered a virus with a significant impact on the brain. The implications are far-reaching, from individuals experiencing cognitive struggles to the potential impact on populations and the economy'.
The fact that the Supreme Court is even considering Trump’s immunity case is horrific.
It should be clear to anyone who cares about democracy that no one is above the law.
But while a Supreme Court packed with Trump’s appointees won’t save us, there is something we can all do:
The presidential election is 250 days from today.
The hard work of keeping American democracy alive and thriving is up to the voting public.
We must redouble our mobilizing, volunteering, knocking on doors, registering, and helping others register in time to vote on November 5.
For those who oppose autocratic rule, complacency and apathy are the enemy. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
Anyone and everyone can make a difference.
Let the work begin.

When it was the pressing issue of landlords not being able to evict people, the court moved with lighting speed and delivered a 6-3 ruling restarting evictions in *three weeks*
There is *nothing* you care about that survives a 6-3 Republican court for a generation. Nothing.
I don’t know how many times the Court has to prove that to people before liberals unify and act.
It's surprising, but fantastic, to see a mainstream media outlet in 2024 recommending wearing N95 masks, and guiding consumers on where to purchase them.
This is the kind of content we need to normalize the wearing of masks in the long-term!

In my view, the key CPAC story isn’t that right-wing influencer Jack Posebiec said, “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely.”
The story is how many Republican lawmakers are absolutely silent about it.
May I suggest the media ask every Congressional member who speaks at CPAC, and every Republican presidential candidate for that matter, the following three questions:
1) Do you reject Jack Posebiec’s comments?
2) Do you support democracy?
3) Do you respect the separation of church and state?
And don't stop asking until you get answers.
I believe journalists have a duty to uncover just how deep the threat to American democracy runs.
It’s the answers that should frighten us. Never the questions.

AOC is an amazing communicator, a gift to the party. If Schumer and Pelosi cared first about fighting fascism they’d elevate and promote her.
But they are so afraid of the left and afraid of change that they marginalize her.
Indeed, Section 9-27.790 of DOJ’s Principles of Federal Prosecution require prosecutors to “remain sensitive to the privacy and reputational interest of uncharged parties.” Hur’s report seems to violate this principle.
Researchers estimate that if the top 1% of Americans paid the full amount of taxes they owed, it would raise $175 billion a year.
That’s just UNPAID taxes. Not new or higher taxes.
How about we make them pay their fair share and use the money to invest in the American people?
Some of the Justices came to work today to say “whoa whoa whoa you’re asking me to make a decision with nationwide legal implications based on the factual record developed in a single court… what if other courts disagreed?” like they just fell onto the bench off a turnip truck.
It's not that the Times didn't "learn their lesson" from their breathless 2016 "but her emails" coverage. It's that they learned, precisely, how the help Trump get into office and are eager to repeat the trick.
Bill Clinton (D) was investigated by Ken Starr (R)
George W Bush (R) was investigated by Patrick Fitzegerald (R)
Hillary Clinton (D) was investigated by James Comey (R)
Donald Trump (R) was investigated by Robert Mueller (R)
Joe Biden (D) was investigated by Robert Hur (R)
Kind of striking, no?
We found out today that the Supreme Court is not at all serious about its own Ethical Code.
Ginni Thomas was directly involved in the plot to overturn the 2020 election. The same plot that got Trump kicked off the ballot in Colorado.
Clarence Thomas is hearing the case. Hello?
Why an off-hand remark about Biden's memory in a report written by a Republican partisan is much more politically damaging than Trump's 91 indictments and 2 impeachments.
Exactly. If you watch the video as opposed to press headlines, he didn’t confuse anything. He gave a detailed, cogent answer and discussion abt the ceasefire/aide negotiations in Gaza. He slipped on a single word. He didn’t confuse who anyone was.
Four separate articles in the NYT today about Biden’s age today, including a *35 paragraph* front page article on a verbal gaffe.
Trump’s own verbal gaffes are mentioned once, 21 paragraphs in, wherein we’re told they don’t matter because “voters do not question his sharpness.”
I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that the special counsel couldn’t justify charging President Biden, so he sought to embarrass him. It was unnecessary and speculative editorializing, and bringing Beau Biden’s death into that effort is beyond slimy and bankrupt.
