@AerLingus hi - I tried to follow your advice and rebook online, but an error code is displaying (alternate flights seemed to be available earlier, but that option has disappeared now). Can you confirm if you are still flying Newark-Dublin?
@Brendo91 Yes, I certainly don't blame the jurors. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them believe the men to be guilty but followed procedure re. proof beyond all reasonable doubt. I'm just dismayed that this woman did everything 'right' and it has still ended like this.
@Brendo91 2/2 and classic victim blaming/ 'slut shaming' language can be used in defence.. be outraged by the fact that she had to spend 8 days on the stand, while they each spent a day, and the jury spent 3.5 hours deliberating. I think that's what people have found abhorrent, I did too.
@Brendo91 I think that's sidestepping the main issue- be outraged about the misogyny in the responses to this girl. Be outraged by a system where a woman's bloodstained knickers can be paraded, the class of those in the house brought up as if it were relevant 1/2
@Brendo91 We can't Brendan, but I think this is the first time most people have seen in detail what happens to those who come forward - and it is shocking. The burden of proof is such in rape cases that it's a miracle anyone is ever convicted.
