Today we filmed the College of Engineering’s annual New Year’s video! You will ahead to wait for the full video to see how I convinced Dr. Iscold to let me and my dog Bear fly his plane!
Interesting perspective by @amyfleischer on cooling demands of data centers over the past 15yrs, how it’s shifted for hyperscale, and the opportunity for energy recovery.

The @CSU engineering deans got a tour today of the San Joaquin River Viaduct of the California High Speed Project. It’s fascinating to see this project taking shape led by a Fresno State Engineering alum.
The @calstate Engineering Deans taking a tour of California’s High Speed Raul project. @Fresno_State alum Diana Gomez is spearheading the project and leading the tour. @FresnoStateLCOE and Dean @ram_nunna are proud of the many alumni working on this project.
Thank you to Rep. Carbajal, Rep. Napolitano, Rep. Torres and Rep. Davis for meeting with CSU engineering deans to talk about policy issues critical to higher education and advances in engineering and technology.
With three other CSU Deans of Engineering advocating to Congress about the importance of engineering education. Did you know 1 in 19 engineering degrees in the country are granted from the CSU? #CSU#calpoly#calpolyproud
Our Cal Poly universities’ “Aquatic Aspirations” received the Director Award for the most outstanding artistic design and use of floral and non-floral materials at the 131st Rose Parade® held New Year’s Day. #CalPolyProud
Yesterday, Cal Poly CubeSat Laboratory members presented their summer undergraduate research project (SURP) at the College of Engineering SURP symposium 📒🛰
We were treated to an amazing performance of Bohemian Rhapsody on the Forbes Pipe Organ by civil engineering and music double major Grant Smith on Saturday night. Our students are multi-talented!
Red tag training has a long history at Cal Poly. I’m happy to join the thousands of students over the years who are fully certified to work independently in our machine shops! Congrats to all the faculty and deans office staff who joined me today on getting their red tags!
John Bellardo, a Cal Poly computer science professor, got a nod from the Planetary Society Wednesday, when they announced its LightSail 2 has successfully used solar energy to travel in space. Bellardo helped the society with LightSail 2, a CubeSat propelled by a solar sail.
A Cal Poly electrical engineering professor said his soon-to-be patented device could provide light to the more than 1.6 billion people living far off the grid. https://t.co/UIHmF2yQEJ @PolyEngineering
While out and about visiting San Diego alumni, President Jeffrey Armstrong, Senior Director of Development Amanda McAdams and Dean Amy Fleischer happened upon a unique suspension bridge.
LightSail2, the citizen-funded CubeSAT sponsored by Bill Nye's @exploreplanets, has sent its first signals back to mission control at Cal Poly after its launch into space last week. Members of the mission team received message from the spacecraft’s morse code beacon at 1:34 a.m.
