Are people finding that they are seeing True Blood through a "twilight" lens? A lot of TB tweets mentioning Bella v Sookie #ENG2GOT

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@ReannaKissell @adrianaf23 in the lecture when Alexis said sookie and bills wooden acting may be deliberately comedic really struck me

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@Sjpetzke don't get me wrong, sookies no buffy, but she gets powers & saves Bill in the first ep.

True blood, proving gothic can do romance while maintaining the active female character #ENG2GOT

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

Soo, I just finished the first season of True Blood. I might have a problem... #ENG2GOT

Enjoying the emergence of the non-passive female figure in gothic lit, shame it took until 1997 #ENG2GOT

@gothiclitlily the teeth are about the only distinctive element left, and in some contemporary vampires they only come out during feeding

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@gothiclitlily there are few distinctive physical elements of vampires &vampirism anymore. But the light/shadow feature still lingers for me

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@ReannaKissell I see more Lucy. Ellen is never seen outside the home and her sexuality is the foundation of her function in the narrative

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@ReannaKissell I agree, it's interesting that he took this particular aspect in order to create the sinister mood. Why not the hairy palms?

Stoker: vampires don't have shadows. Murnau when copying stoker: depicts vampire primarily through his shadow #ENG2GOT #nosferatu

Its interesting that Van Helsing, not an Englishman, is the bridge between English rationality and Transylvanian irrationality #ENG2GOT

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@hylatrobe Both novels depict a hunt, written in the form of letters from multiple perspectives #ENG2GOT

#Dracula using his supernatural senses to predict the future in the weather forecast

A monster is something that deviates significantly from humanity in a repulsive or daunting manner, physically and/or internally #eng2got

@jacqui_garvey great insight, I like the theory

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

These diary entries in Dracula remind me a little of the Blair witch project, anyone else? #eng2got

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

Except for the hairy palms...

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

The contemporary image of vampires hasn't changed very much from stoker's Dracula. Greasy black hair, white skin, pointy ears #ENG2GOT

[Amy Hodgson @amyhlatrobe]

@dinabardan found it now, haha thank you! "Witches in disguise"
