"I've never been one that said I don't believe student-athletes shouldn't be paid. But the way it is now is ridiculous. It's utterly ridiculous"
Steve Alford was asked if there's anything he & his staff need to do to help navigate this new landscape of college basketball & here was his response. It's long but worth a listen 👇
DJ Daniel, the child who wants to become a cop, high fiving the young man who just got accepted to West Point is everything good about the USA. It’s goodness, purity and love. The best of America.
I am a pastor and the leader of an anti-violence, faith-based group called @Indytenpoint. I represent a coalition of pastors who believe that violence is fundamentally a matter of the heart and a spiritual issue. It originates from sin and the presence of evil, which leads individuals to commit violent acts. Gun laws cannot legislate morality. The root causes of violence are simply symptoms of a society that has not placed God at the center of their lives. Living in poverty should not cause someone to lose their moral compass or their respect for the sanctity of life, especially when Christ is at the center of their lives. The ongoing problem of urban violence can only be resolved spiritually because it is a heart issue. More God, less crime.
There are days when moral clarity seems to vanish from our country. Today, it feels like we are lost as a nation. Our desire to please everyone has only resulted in confusion and a lack of clarity. When I was growing up in the sixties and seventies, my family and the church provided the moral guidance that society needed. Attending church on Sunday mornings helped shape my moral compass and taught me the principles of right and wrong, as well as how we should treat one another as human beings. There were lines in the sand that I would not cross morally, but many young people today are crossing those lines. Sunday is no longer regarded as a sacred day for family and worship. The chaos in our nation will not cease until we restore God to His rightful place in our lives and our country.
