An update: we’re 3xing the rate limits for Gemini models across all paid tiers in Antigravity and resetting everyone’s Gemini quota for the week.
We understand some people hit their rate limits quickly and wanted to respond fast. Lots more to come and enjoy building!
Gemini 3.5 Flash is amazing!
- Performs better than 3.1 Pro on coding & agentic tasks
- 4x faster than other frontier models
- 12x faster in @antigravity - 800 tokens/sec!
- Often at less than half the cost
And Pro to come…
Try it in @antigravity, @GeminiApp & more - enjoy!
Everyone’s saying OpenAI got the “same deal” Anthropic was banned for.
Read the fine print. They’re not the same:
On weapons:
Anthropic asked for “no fully autonomous weapons without human oversight” = a human involved in the decision.
OpenAI’s deal says “human responsibility for the use of force” = someone accountable, which can happen after the fact.
Oversight ≠ Responsibility. One requires a human before the trigger. The other requires a name on the paperwork after.
On surveillance:
Dario said explicitly: current law hasn’t caught up with AI. The government can already buy your movement data, browsing history, etc without a warrant. AI can assemble that into a complete picture of your life, at scale. That’s mass surveillance without breaking a single law.
Anthropic wanted protections beyond current law.
OpenAI’s deal says the Pentagon “reflects them in law and policy.” That’s existing law as the safeguard, the exact law Anthropic said is insufficient.
Same words. Different agreements. Read them carefully

🚨 NEW LABS EXPERIMENT 🚨
Introducing Opal, our new way to help you build and share AI mini-apps by linking together prompts, models, and tools— all while using simple, natural language (without a single line of code 🤯)
Now available in US-only public beta! Learn more ⬇️

Super excited about the latest experiment from one of my teams in @GoogleLabs - Opal is a powerful, playful, yet simple way for *anyone* to build with AI. No code, just prompts. Start with an idea, a few words, and a spark of curiosity.
This is still early days for Opal, and we wanted to embrace the spirit of building in the open. We're excited to see what people make and where this goes!
Today, Julian Salazar presents SequenceLayers, a framework-agnostic layer API & open-source library for creation of robust, streamable sequence models. Stop by the #ICML2025 Google booth at 3pm to learn about its design principles & JAX implementation. https://t.co/WcnQBFQTFV

Hello Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite! So fast, it codes *each screen* on the fly (Neural OS concept 👇).
The frontier isn't always about large models and beating benchmarks. In this case, a super fast & good model can unlock drastic use cases.

googlers are going to be so unbearably smug when everyone realizes the best way to use ai coding agents is in a large monorepo with all dependencies vendored into third_party and very strict coding guidelines. y'all better get ready to learn bazel
Native audio input and output, computer control, pointing, Duplex-like calling, context awareness... in 2018 I worked on the speech synthesis in Duplex and remember the I/O announcement clearly. This feels like an entirely different universe.
🙌 If you are building with the Gemini APIs, please consider applying to join the @GoogleLabs AI Futures Fund!
I've been working with this ✨stellar✨ team for the last many months, and have been incredibly impressed with its first startup cohort. Learn more in the link below👇
Hey, @3Blue1Brown's running an "explain math" contest, with prizes, deadline Aug 22! You can submit video, essays, even interactives:

I loved Grant's advice on making math explainers, so I comic-fied it:
Seriously. Spent all weekend telling the 2yo that we could probably go outside in a few hours (when the "masky face" on our AirVisual app went away). Never happened.
Do you support criminal justice reform?
I'd like to convince you that the COVID-19 prison outbreaks are a public health crisis that needs your immediate support and advocacy to release 50% of the CA prison population.
Sound radical? It's not. The problem, and how you can help:
Tech folks, I need you to join me as loud and clear voices from the business community demanding large-scale reductions in the California prison population to reduce future COVID-19 deaths, both inside and outside of our prisons.
Some facts:
