Managing a young persons behaviour is not about the pupil, its about us. If we are feeling dysregulated we become a mirror and reflection of our young people. Your calm presence can be an anchor. 🧠🌱
This is key: it doesn't matter what service you offer, what approach, how many certificates are held. It all happens in relationship. So if you don't have that, you don't have anything at all. Relationships ARE the work. So relationships ARE the priority.
Caring , consistent relationships with our young people can buffer the effects of childhood trauma and toxic stress and help keep children from being derailed.
This is what schools can do .

This week I did a CELF with a 17 year old. We barely made it past the trial items. Never seen an SLT before and labelled shy, anxious and odd for years. How has no one thought to check out why conversation, school and college might have been such a struggle?!

Well done🌟to the 10 class reps who came together for the first Student Council meeting this year at @SfIT_UK. They did a fantastic job sharing ideas and suggestions with Executive Principal, Pete Jenkins.
