@genologos Purely curiosity driven research is essential, but not the only kind of research. Research in aid of a cause is perfectly valid, all that is needed is we get clear on the cause. It’s then for society to contest what are worthy causes.

@genologos ive never understood why this is such a vexed question. We all have a duty to be moral. In biology knowledge acquisition is very often goal oriented. We often try to advance human health. At least until pharma/biotech get involved, there’s no special epistemic problem.
