Today, the European Union took a major step forward.

All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.

At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.

It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.

This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.

And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.

Enlargement is a strategic choice.

By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.

In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.

Enlargement remains one of the EU’s greatest success stories and our best investment in our shared future.

Today is a day that will be remembered forever, marked indelibly in our shared history.

European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and I are delighted to announce the conclusion of the historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

This is a milestone in our relations which will:

As I bid farewell to India after serving as the first resident Ambassador of Moldova to this beautiful country, I leave as a lifelong friend of the incredible Indian people. What an amazing time representing Moldova in India and opening a diplomatic mission. We built friendships, we built partnerships, and we made history.

My dear India, I will carry with me forever your way of being, your way of thinking, your way of living - it is very special, very beautiful, and very powerful. Deeply honored to meet Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder and Chairman, and Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Group.

Founded in 1983, Apollo Hospitals is recognized as the first corporate hospital network in India, and Dr. Reddy is renowned as the architect of modern healthcare in the country.

We discussed potential collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and Apollo in the fight against cancer.

At the distinguished age of 92, Dr. Reddy still comes to the office every day. I asked him about his secret. His answer? Love for people. 🤍

For the first time, the iconic Qutub Minar in New Delhi was illuminated in blue, yellow, and red - the colors of the Republic of Moldova’s flag - to mark our 34th Independence Day, celebrated today.

Standing 72.5 meters tall, this majestic red-brick tower, built in the early 13th century, is the tallest brick minaret in the world and a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This gesture beautifully reflects the warm and growing friendship between Moldova and India. We extend our deepest gratitude to @MEAIndia, @MinOfCultureGoI, and @ASIGoI for this honour. 🙏

This special moment reminds us of the priceless value of freedom and fills our hearts with gratitude for all those who fought for the independence of the Republic of Moldova.
