I'm so happy to share my first story for the @NYTmag. My colleague @meghier and I wrote about how researchers are working to rebuild Brazil's National Museum's Indigenous collection after a tragic fire destroyed an important part of the country's heritage. https://t.co/qfZCbvOMeY
I want to expand my circle of online creatives! If you work or are interested in fiction, mental health writing, sustainability, or are a freelancer, like this post and I'll follow you.
“Nothing in the past can be changed or restored. But the present can change the way it is thought about. In this new enactment, presence can replace absence, which is the best that can be managed in human time.”
— Louise Glück
And I know polyphobia won't be as strong forever. Just as there is more acceptance for queerness and genderqueerness, there will be more acceptance for non-monogamous relationships. But right now, I'm frustrated by how the world sees us.
Ran into a TikTok incident when I called someone out for being polyphobic--long story short, it wasn't great. So even though this is my professional account, I want to openly say that I am polyamorous. Because hiding that would be the same as hiding my transness and queerness.
I may write about it at some point, in the same way I've written about being nonbinary--openly, honestly, and for the sake of educating people who don't understand us.
For those of us on the ground in states trying to figure out how to help connect folks to providers to fill gaps in care created by cruel, targeted bans, this is a constant, increasing threat.
