Candidate for US Senate Abdulrahman “Abdul” El-Sayed said people rarely ask how he prays, but instead ask what he prays for, saying he hopes for “peace and dignity and basic goodness for all of our kids.”

He stressed the importance of distinguishing between Jewish people, Judaism, and Israel’s government policies, arguing that criticism of a state should not be conflated with antisemitism.

El-Sayed also said he opposes using U.S. taxpayer money to support what he described as “apartheid and genocide,” saying those funds should instead be used for healthcare, education, and services for communities at home.
