Birthright Citizenship Lawsuit Filed in Boston

Last night, we filed in federal court and struck against Trump’s cruel attempt to strip U.S. citizenship from the children of immigrant parents.

Lawyers for Civil Rights, alongside La Colaborativa and the Brazilian Worker Center, brought this lawsuit on behalf of expectant mothers, families, and immigrant communities harmed by the unconstitutional Executive Order issued hours after the inauguration. This order denies U.S.-born children their rights, protections, and identity, hurting immigrant families and plunging communities into fear and uncertainty.

The Fourteenth Amendment is clear: birthplace, not parentage, determines citizenship. Over a century of Supreme Court precedent confirms this fundamental truth.

We stand in solidarity with immigrant families nationwide to defend this sacred right.

We refuse to let the federal government create a caste system that dehumanizes U.S.-born children and their families.

We have full faith and trust that the court will uphold the Constitution, protect birthright citizenship, and ensure that every child born in this country has the opportunity to thrive.
