The Botanical Survey of India proudly shares exciting news—a new species of #wild_kiwi from India has been discovered! 🥝
After extensive field exploration in the rugged terrains of #ArunachalPradesh and detailed taxonomic investigation, scientists have identified Actinidia indica (Actinidiaceae) from the Eastern Himalaya—one of the world’s richest biodiversity hotspots.
🥝The genus Actinidia comprises now ~56 species globally, but only a handful are reported from India, making this discovery particularly significant.
🥝Actinidia indica is a perennial climbing shrub (2–4 m tall) with densely ferruginous tomentose young branches and large ovate leaves. It bears large white to creamy flowers (4–6 cm across)—notably bigger than its closest relatives.
🥝The species produces globose, olive-green fruits (2.5–4 cm) with a unique reticulate pattern of lenticels, a key distinguishing feature for this species.
Found at around 1725 m elevation in Lower Subansiri district, it grows along forest edges in association with diverse sub-tropical flora.
🥝This discovery not only enriches India’s flora but also highlights the immense, still unexplored biodiversity of the #EasternHimalaya.
🥝 This plant was discovered by Dr. S.S. Dash, Scientist-F and in-charge, Technical Section, Headquarters, Kolkata, Dr. Umeshkumar L. Tiwari, Scientist-D, and Mr. Rohan Maity, Senior Preservation Assistant, Central National Herbarium, Howrah.

अन्नकूट पर्व के पावन अवसर पर श्री काशी विश्वनाथ धाम में भव्य आयोजन

कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की प्रतिपदा तिथि को प्रतिवर्ष की भाँति इस वर्ष भी श्री काशी विश्वनाथ धाम में अन्नकूट पर्व का अत्यंत भव्य और श्रद्धामय आयोजन संपन्न हुआ। अन्नकूट पर्व, भगवान श्रीकृष्ण द्वारा गोवर्धन पर्वत की पूजा की स्मृति में मनाया जाने वाला यह पावन पर्व, अन्न की समृद्धि, अन्न सुरक्षा और कृतज्ञता की भावना का प्रतीक है। "अन्नकूट" पर्व प्रकृति और ईश्वर के प्रति आभार प्रकट करने की परंपरा का द्योतक है। श्री काशी विश्वनाथ धाम में आज के इस पावन अवसर पर भगवान श्री विश्वेश्वर महादेव का श्रृंगार 21 क्विंटल विविध प्रकार की मिष्ठानों से किया गया। यह मिष्ठान धाम से जुड़े विभिन्न प्रतिष्ठानों से प्राप्त हुआ। श्रृंगार हेतु जिन प्रमुख मिष्ठानों का उपयोग किया गया उनमें छेना, बूंदी लड्डू, काजू बर्फी, मेवा लड्डू तथा अन्य पारंपरिक मिठाइयाँ प्रमुख रूप से सम्मिलित थीं। पूरे धाम परिसर को पुष्पों, दीपों और सुगंधित धूप से अलंकृत किया गया, जिससे सम्पूर्ण वातावरण भक्ति और उल्लास से परिपूर्ण हो उठा।

दिलजीत दोसांझ अपने दिल्ली कॉन्सर्ट में, दर्शकों की भीड़ में एक रशियन महिला से बात करने लगे. उन्होंने बहुत सम्मान दिखाया कि वो महिला रशिया से उनका कान्सर्ट देखने आई है. उसके साथ ही उन्होंने उनसे कहा कि यहाँ सब अपने ही लोग हैं, आप एकदम सेफ़ हैं. ये बात उन्होंने दो-तीन बार दोहराई.

भारत में यहाँ की महिलाएँ भी सेफ़ तो नहीं हैं. कल रात लौटते हुए भी मैंने इसका अनुभव किया. दूसरे देश की महिलाओं के साथ होने वाली घटनाओं का तो क्या ही कहा जाए. लेकिन, फिर भी मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगा कि इतना बड़ा कलाकार स्टेज से खड़े होकर लोगों को उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी का अहसास करवा रहा था.

उनकी और बातों से भी यही लगा कि हम जो अपने देश, अपने राज्य, अपनी भाषा, अपने समुदाय को दिल से तो लगा लेते हैं, पर उसके प्रतिनिधित्व की ज़िम्मेदारी से भागते हैं. हम जो भी करते हैं, छोटे स्तर पर ही सही, लेकिन उसका परिणाम एक दिन बड़े स्तर का हो जाता है. ऐसे ही स्टीरियोटाइप बनते हैं.

जीवन के इस स्टेज पर और शायद अपने प्रोफ़ेशन की वजह से भी अब लोगों को उनके पद, स्टेचर, लोकप्रियता, कला से भी ज़्यादा मैं अब उन्हें उनके चरित्र के लिए पसंद करती हूँ. किस बात के लिए वे लड़ने को तैयार हो जाते हैं, किस बात पर वो समझौता नहीं करते हैं, और कैसे समाज के लिए अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी पूरी करते हैं.

आप हस्तक्षेप कैसे भी करें, शांति से या क्रांति से, लेकिन हस्तक्षेप ज़रूरी है. हर बात का तमाशा बनाना ज़रूरी नहीं है, पर तमाशबीन ना बने रहना भी हमारा चुनाव है. #DiljitDosanjh
