@wesstreeting you want to know why the resident doctors aren’t “pushing back” the strikes til January?! I think this data is available to you. It’s because they care deeply about the NHS and about patients that they are being forced to strike at all. @TheBMA
📣 Five days of strike action starts today.
These strikes could have been averted, if @Wesstreeting had a credible offer for us to consider.

@MikeKaneMP I hope you are reaching out to your constituents and representing their views - the war in Gaza needs to end now, and we need to end the famine. Now. Please. Thank you
@WythenshaweHosp to the wonderful ED triage nurse today who showed so much care and compassion. I went in as a patient with my 3 week old baby and she very kindly arranged for me to wait in Paeds ED and use the baby feeding room. Thank you ❤️
The government needs to start paying doctors what they’re worth. They can’t afford not to. 15 years of pay erosion is driving doctors abroad.
Consultants don’t forget to post your ballots. We need to restore our salaries to encourage our junior colleagues to stay in the NHS.
We do airways mainly, but…

Great work @numboblivion
@TimDHWoo I think the surgical cons might have experienced scans he wanted not being done the same day and then adopted this practice, but it was courteous and useful learning for the whole team, and didn’t take long! Civility helps
@TimDHWoo I worked with a surgical cons who would take us all to Radiology at the end of the ward round and discuss the urgent requests (for that day) with the cons radiologist. We all learned why the scan was being requested and how to discuss pertinent info with colleagues. Great idea?
‘Blood test for sleepy drivers could pave way for prosecutions’
Healthcare workers working nights, new parents, menopausal women… implications are huge for those who sleep less than 5 hours. Taxis, public transport would to be improved. https://t.co/qFFH45FpD1
1/18 THOUGHT for the #Coronation W/E:
Our NHS is a "jewel in the crown" of UK. But pay in the NHS has been #RoyallyScrewed 👇
If you want to understand why nurses, junior doctors (& potentially consultants) are striking, start with this graph
Short🧵 pls read to end & share/RT
@wesstreeting It’s a shame that more anaesthetists are needed, so rather than take on for the last 4 years of their training these highly paid and very skilled doctors, there has been a decision made not too. Simultaneously, there seems to be funding and places for AAs … I wonder why?!
👋 @Edwina_Currie
Crikey why didn’t @TheBMA think of that!
Oh wait ALL @BMA_JuniorDocs have seen pay eroded disgracefully, but consultants have fared even worse than juniors 👇
Which is why @BMA_Consultants balloting next month unless govmnt gets serious #PayRestoration
