Western culture alternates between world-fixing and soul-fixing. Each era trades one illusion of control for the other and ends when one of the faiths collapses and the other rushes in to fill the void.
Taxing non-income-producing property is wrong. Homeowners should not be forced to work to pay "rent" to the government for the privilege of living in their own homes. Property taxes should only be levied on income-producing property, as the income provides a means to pay the tax.
It is curious that those on the left—the alleged advocates of democracy—are not the more ardent supporters of gun ownership and the Second Amendment.
The pro-social, pro-civilizational purpose of guns is, after all, equality.
Guns' most distinct virtue is not the ability to go hunting on the weekends, nor even for use in home defense. Rather, their most distinct virtue is in the egalitarian expression of power, arguably *the* foundational prerequisite for democracy.
Tyranny or fascism of any kind is most difficult among a well-armed populace. This point is indisputable.
Thus, any group that advocates highly centralized, hierarchical power, should oppose broad gun ownership.
And any group that advocates highly decentralized, democratic power, should so sanctify it.
What are we to make of the modern Left, then? Where is their advocacy of egalitarianism on the very policy which most enables it?
AI coding is a slot machine: variable reward.
People talk about how AI to programming language is like the difference between programing language to byte code, but ignore the variable reward part. When you compile C to byte code, it is (for the most part) deterministic.

People cite the 1951 Accord to celebrate the birth of the "Fed independence", but here is the actual text-
"The Treasury and Federal Reserve have reached full accord to pursue their common purpose to assure successful financing of the government's requirements and, at the same time, to minimize monetization of the public debt."
What is "successful financing of government's requirement" if not explicit commitment to Treasury?
What is "to minimize" if not specifically to eliminate?
What is "common purpose" if not political?
Fed "independence" is a myth, a story.
It is the moral cover which justifies its grotesque state-sanctioned near-monopoly power over the most important market in the world: money.
The Fed is never "independent" of the banking establishment. It is of, by, and for the banks. The Fed is the banking establishment's greatest accomplishment.
And because modern banking is an appendage of the state, so too is the Fed its most potent tentacle.
Nobody should really care about how much the Fed spent on its building renovations. What a distraction!
The Fed's crime is not an embellished construction project, but the systematic coercive distortion of money rates across the global economy for the past century.
And people usually don’t think far enough ahead to realize any power you give current government, future government will have as well.
Want to give Trump a power? Then make sure you’re cool with AOC potentially having it one day, too. And vice versa.
